FYI
The story goes that cannonballs used to be stored aboard ship in piles, on a brass frame or tray called a 'monkey'. In very cold weather the brass would contract, spilling the cannonballs: hence very cold weather is 'cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey'.

Explain this:
It was cold enough to freeze the brass monkey off a well digging witch.0 -
I was once married to the witch . She could give you a look cold enough to freeze anything off! I also worked as a well driller for many years . We were working on the shore of Chesapeake bay during the great freeze of 1977. I can testify as to how cold a welldiggers ass gets when the bay is frozen over and you can walk on it !😂 0
