Firearm imports/exports should have NEVER been under the Department of State to begin with as the Department of Commerce makes sense.
IF the exports are going to be simpler, how about the imports?
Right now, it's expensive to import a firearm and/or any firearm parts as all has to go thru the State Dept. and one has to be licensed to import them.

Maybe this will flood the US with commie ammo and Chinese SKS? Back to seeing SKS for $100 with a crate of ammo. 0
