Sears to convert Glock's to FA have been around for many years, although I understand that the Gen-5s are extremely difficult to convert. If you happen to be a dealer with a police letter or a manufacturer (no LE letter needed) then sears are out there in the $400 range.

A registered sear, or a factory Glock 18 which is transferable, if such a thing exists, would be priced in the usual tens of thousands of dollars.0 -

Several years ago I was in a gun store where a customer was asking how he could keep his Full Auto Glock when he retired from the Police Department he worked for. He and two other officers had used their own money to fund the purchase through the PD thinking that they would keep them when retired. Not sure if they were G18's or another model that had been converted. Guy was NOT pleased when he found out that those belong to the Department, and could only be transferred to another LE or Govt agency. 0 -

FTFY. Well, actually I do, I'm not just one of 'em. As for a FA Glock, I could see the usefulness if it had a small attachable shoulder stock (I think they exist).
I guess my big wonder is "wonder what legit reason a police department has for needing full auto anything"0 -

Individual officers funding purchases for their departments is not uncommon, in fact with budgets being tight, it happens more often than many people think. Paying for it mean that they own it, it still belongs to the department and all of the normal restrictions on machineguns apply.0 -

I like a Machine Pistol and have a shot a bunch of them. They are not very practical but they are fun.
I have shot a G-18 and it was not the best MP I have shot. For me the Stechkin was the most fun and controllable. The Beretta 93R is a blast to shoot with or without the stock. I have shot MAC 10 and 11's very fast ROF but they work, The Mini UZI is nice and fairly controllable.
The Polish PM-63 is fun as is the PM-84 Glauberyt that replaced it, but the best was the Scorpion, very controllable easy to hit with even one handed.
I think in a Machine Pistol where you will be firing at close range and shooting a short burst an intermediate cartridge is fine like the 380 or 9x18, when you step up to full power 9mm they get a little jumpy and in 45 they are too heavy loaded and too light when fired.0 -
My findings on the various ones I have rented at MG shoots are similar to Sam06's. I have shot the G18 both with and without the shoulder stock. I was somewhat surprised it didn't recoil as bad as I thought it would. Perhaps that was because I am used to full power 10mm loads.
As someone asked above. Why? Because it is an absolute blast to shoot (pun totally intended). I have yet to ever see a fan of guns shoot a full auto anything and not turn around smiling.

1. Huge psychological advantage, (As in: THAT CRAZY DUDE'S GOTTA MACHINE GUN!)
2. The government has them and don't want us to have them.
3. Hard to beat FA when you need to stop and scatter advancing multiple "assailants". Or make a shooter duck.
-1 Hard to control accurately.
-2 Expensive to feed.
-3 Government paperwork, control and fees.
-4 Expensive to purchase
-5 Tears up the squirrels too much.0 -

Think about it this way; The highest speed limit in the country is 85 mph (140 km/h), which is posted on a single stretch of tollway in rural Texas.
Even so, the vast majority of motor vehicles manufactured and on the roads every day are capable of exceeding 85 miles per hour.
Why would any one what a vehicle that would/could break the law?

Im sure a G18 is very fun- but I have no use for one.
However I have always been curious about the German made Glock 7.

Shot a converted Glock 17 at a machine gun shoot 15 to 20 years ago. With the shoulder stock attachment I could easily walk rounds into 100yd targets with it. Was a blast. Would love to have one. Easy to control - good fun. 0 -
