    can't speak for all ammo, but if I polish some then handle it and put away for a few month, my fingerprints will tarnish/discolor the brass I wouldn't worry unless you have a powdery coloration growing on it......... may watch the first few for squibs in case it is also on the inside, but I would guess that is unlikely, if it worries you call the manufacturer and ask them

    I shoot a lot of milsurp 30-06 ammo.

    Have not had problems with tarnished ammo. If there are rough green spots, I won't use it, as that suggests there is deeper corrosion. Probably safe, but bought most of it for $ 0.25 - $ 0.30 per round, and there does not seem to be much of an upside to using something that may have an issue.

    I second the comments above. Simple tarnish doesn't hurt anything but if it is green or has a rough texture under it, then I'd not use it. For an experiment, I cleaned up some 10mm and 44 mag brass that had been on the ground a while at my house (lost it when I shot it). After running it on my wet tumbler for several hours it cleaned up and looked good. But, at closer inspection, one could see where the greenish area was had a bumpy texture and the brass was more reddish in that area. I think it actually pulled some of the beneficial minerals out of it. I had no intentions on using it. But, I went ahead and resized and flared a few pieces and several split. I think I have some pics of it somewhere if you are interested.

    I've shot way worse looking ammo than that.

    Worst was a 2 pound coffee can full of GI steel case .45 ACP ammo. Most were pretty rusty and ugly, but they all fired.

    corrosive primers as well...

    It goes pop but it's a rust bringer and gun killer if not attended to.
