    I'd agree with you Sir.

Whenever I cook my own, with one of the aforementioned kits. (Not likely,) whenever I cook my own, I do it from scratch. Sautee'd onions cooked in to the ground beef mixture. Gunnut505's hot Chili powder blend mixed in.

Fresh soft corn tortillas, individually cooked in a cast iron skillet with EVOO.

Sharp shredded cheddar, shredded lettuce, fine diced onions and tomatoes. Siriracha hot sauce. Sour cream. Salt/pepper.

    The best.

My Mom, usually hooks me up, every several weeks with just that mix. She knows how much I love Taco's.

Back in my youth I had the pleasure of watching a family of migrant cherry pickers from Mexico making flour tortillas from scratch. Cooking outside over a campfire on top of a cast iron frying pan. I even got to enjoy a great meal with them and will never forget the experience.

Have since forgotten all the how they did it stuff and have never tried it on my own. From memory, it seemed pretty simple but things are so easy these days to just buy the ones packaged at the store.

The meal way back then was seeming very simple but the tastes and flavors I had will never be forgotten. Never came close to repeating since. Then again, it was a fiesta after a hard days work in the orchards and there was some tequila, mezcal, and beer involved. :P

I even make my own seasoning. Screw that keep you thirsty for 5 days packets. I love real south of the border food and make my own mole too.

Taco's made at home, when I make the effort, are by far the best.

I only hit cheap joints for my fix, when I do not want to make the effort, deal with the clean up. Getting old and lazy lately. Work is intense.

Whenever I make my own, it is Win, Win.

    Love me some Taco's. :D

I just use a bag of the nacho chips and go from there.

Yes, a bag of Nacho chips, a can of pre-heated Ranchero re-fried beans, a pound of browned ground beef. A large handfull of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, bake at 350? for 20-30 minutes.

Add a large hand full of fine diced onions. An equally large handfull of pickled Jalepeno's. Shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. Guacamole' and Sour Cream.

    Good stuff.

I make those all the time. I call them Nachos, but I may not be using the right name for them. Kind of a Mexican pizza!

We make them every week or two and about 1/2 the time we use ground chicken for the protein. Have not made them at home yet but plan to make fish tacos in the near future. I do tend to use the package taco mix to season the protein. We usually top with shredded lettuce or "superfood salad mix", tomatoes, cheddar or Colby jack cheese, some guacamole, hot sauce, sour cream...

Neow that I posted to this thread, I think we need to make these in the next couple of days!

    I only seen 8, thought there were 12... ;)

No taco kit here. Browned meat of choice with either fried taco shells or burrito shells. Fresh cut veggies with shredded cheese, sour cream and an assortment of taco sauces.....
