Any Remington 7615 Police Carbine Owners?

They have gone up considerably, since I purchased mine. :D

16.5" barrel, 4 lug rotating locking bolt, pump, dual action bars, Wilson Combat XS sights. Parkerized, collapsible synthetic stock and foregrip. Accepts AR-15 magazines.

Available in .308 and 5.56. (Mine is the 5.56 version.) Never knew they had a .308 version. May have to hunt one down.

A hoot to shoot.

    They are nice.

    They were the PC patrol rifle for police departments who didn't want their cops armed with an AR-15.

    I shot one and it worked well. I like 10-20 rd mags though because the 30rd mags kind of get in the way of your support/pumping arm.

    The one I shot was accurate and was rifled for 55gr bullets(1-12") I believe.


    I see them going for around $700 most of the time. The ones with the Wilson sights are more sought after than the ones with either no sights or a buckhorn sight.

    I remember when you got yours, I thought that would be a great gun if you lived in some repressive 2a state

    Robust, and simplistic. I can see it being a primary SHTF rifle.

    The more complicated something is, the more likely something goes wrong.

    AR magazines are a plus. Small handy Carbine.

    Very true now I am going to be the devils advocate for arguments sake:

    1. Pump and lever action rifles are difficult to fire from the prone a Horse or from a trench/fox hole. This is why not many military's ever issued them and chose Single shot, Bolt action or Semi auto.

    2. I would bet it has more parts than an AR-15 when totally disassembled.

    3. I bet its not as accurate as a AR-15 at 250 meters

    4. You cannot get as many aftermarket add on's for it and I don't see any provisions for mounting a light.

    5. You cannot work the action with one hand easily as you can an AR.

    I had one for awhile I just didn't need another 223 and traded it for Marlin guide gun

    I'd like to own a Marlin Guide Gun. 45-70? (Don't really need one though.)

    My Remington 7615 Seems to be appreciating in value/cost quite rapidly. :D

    I have a 7615P that I bought way back when they came out. They were pretty expensive at the time, but I got it in the $400 range new (clearance sale). I opted for the regular (i.e. non-adjustable) rear stock, but did get the Wilson Combat ghost ring sights. As I recall, I took quite a bit of heat on this board from folks who couldn't get past the comparison to the AR-15. For me, though, I never saw it as a competition. Pump actions are extremely handy, the thing is built like a tank, and the fact that it takes cheap, detachable AR mags was a big bonus (20 rounders are the perfect size for it). Besides, sometimes I just don't feel like grabbing an AR. As good as they are, something about them (shape, manner of carry, etc.) is just clunky. Sometimes, I just want to grab a "regular" gun. The 7615P is the perfect middle ground.

    There are plenty of guide gun calibers to choose from. One warning though, once you start, you might just have to collect them all. :mrgreen: I started with 45-70. Then got one I had 20+ years ago, a 444 Marlin. Well, since I had a Marlin, maybe I should get another Marlin caliber so I got the 450. Most of those I have a few, with different barrel lengths longer than the guide gun. I find I like the 16.25" - 18" the best and definitely not ported. I wear hearing protection when I target shoot, but not when hunting. Those big bore ported guns leave my ears ringing for days; and I couldn't even answer it. :lol:

    I had heard from a solid source inside the industry that Remington was going to make some of these military and police (gendarme and militia) style pump and slide action carbines and short rifles in specific non military non police chambering for sale in certain south American and European markets...

    Much like the Jeff Cooper steyr scout rifle being offered in .376 steyr - essentially a rule work around ruse to allow the sale of what was essentially a military or law enforcement combat grade precision sniper rifle in countries with some odd and strict gun laws

    Would anybody be interested in one of these guns in say .376 steyr or .307 Winchester or .300 savage or .30 Remington or .35 Remington...

    How about .500 s&w or .460 s&w or .480 ruger or .458 socom or maybe a smaller short belted magnum cartridge...

    I think they missed the boat not offering some oddball eccentric chambering - I know the magazine issue would have caused some complications - but nothing insurmountable...

    Just random musings based on an old memory.
