another ? on the JC Higgins model 50
First off info from last question is appreciated from all especially John Stimson's response from an expert on these rifles. Anyway I have heard some pros and cons on the trigger being a two piece affair on these JC Higgins FN model 50's and was wondering if anyone here has opinions on them ? Also does Timney make a drop in replacement for these rifles ? Any info is always appreciated.

Can't answer either of your questions. Rifle is almost 70 years old though. Unlikely any currently made aftermarket trigger would be a drop in. If you could find out what specific aftermarket trigger, was used on the early FN post W W II imports? keep a eye on fleabay. Might luck out, and be able to pick one up. 0 -
Timney Sportsman 98FN trigger, and you'll probably have to do a little file work on the trigger guard as the trigger itself is a bit wider. 0 -

The ones I've handled were simply variations of commercial Mauser 98 and most triggers for mil-surp 98 work fine with a bit of fiddling.0
