I've been looking at these for a couple of years. Reviews have all been great and I like levers. Found a nice blued Henry on the auction side yesterday and hit the buy now button. Time to get a set of dies and see if I can wear this rifle out. Anyone have a Henry and what do you think of them?

    got a couple of 22 lever ....henry bought the ithaca tooling when they quit as they had the half round bolt setup...smoothest action out there..former
    ithaca design was made by erma werke in germany......

    Does it have a loading gate or do you load it like a 22 through the tube?

    Only handled one Henry. It was an octagonal barreled .357.

    Guy was receiving it, while I picked up another firearm.

    It seemed very well built and robust. I was impressed. Nice finish.

    From what I have seen of the Company, I am also impressed.

    I can definately see myself owning one.

    They make one that has a brushed chrome finish to repel weather.

    It looks like a nice rifle.

    I am surprised that a .30 - .30 loads through the tube. How many does it hold?

    I would have anticipated a port loading, on that caliber.

    I have a Henry Golden Boy. Love the gun it shots very accurately with just iron sights. I use it in some matches and equal and sometimes even beat guys with scopes.

    The tube loading allows you to unload without racking the action to unload each cartridge. There is probably a lesser manufacturing cost factor also.
    I can see where that would be handy.

    I had a 357 golden boy, most don't care for the loading tube and consider it a turn off. I loved it for that very reason, it held 10-11? can't remember exact number, but it was a lot easier to dump them all out in my hat and only have to lever the one out of the chamber than to lever each one out...

    I would bet cost was the big factor. I can see where it is probably safer in the long run but they loo funny to me missing the loading gate.........................but the original Henry didn't have a loading gate either maybe that is why.

    Its just a scaled up copy of the .22 rimfire design...

    Henry now offers side gate loading rifles AND they kept the tube loading option on the gun. So you can load it quickly by tube then top off through the gate if you need.
