Dogs, and Sauerkraut-
Have plenty of food, was just craving this.
Started 6 all beef Oscar Meyer dogs, with the juice from a can of Sauerkraut, in a large skillet. Instead of pouring the juice off, used it to steam the dogs.
After they are browned, (sauerkraut juice cooked down/steamed.) add some EVOO towards the end. (browned.)
Will add some fresh diced onions, and some stone ground mustard.
Smells great!!
On fresh Multi grain bread. Mmmnnn,.......................Mmnnnnn.....................
Simple Redneck fare.

Just finished a plate of elk beer sausage steamed over some fresh homemade kraut and mashed taters.... Great breakfast. 0 -
Ken, you saying you like cold kraut on your dogs? That is the way I like mine! Hot kraut is OK but cold is better IMO.
During the hot summer months I keep a jar of sauerkraut in the fridge. Eat it right out of the jar ice cold. Helps replenish the salt sweated out of the body! And it is delicious!0 -
When it comes to dogs and kraut, mmmmmmm, I don't know how many days in a row I eat them before dogs and kraut would grow old but it is a period longer than a week!!
Gotta be a good quality dog, a good bun or bread, kraut either cold or warm, smothered in mustard (Either regular or spicy) with a strip of ketchup to complete the program!!0 -
House smells Awesome!!
I like the sauerkraut browned/steamed. (Not cold.)
Personal preference.0 -
Talking about buns, I was brought up on using bread and it stuck. Whenever I bought buns, they turned to crap if I ever put them in the freezer! Bread never did that for me unless it was frozen for many months. Buns are OK if used right away fresh but they don't stay fresh long.
I must be a bun snob!
Now when it comes to bread.....I either buy really GOOD bread, or enjoy homemade. When I lived near a big city many moons ago the Jewish Rye available was so good that it spoiled the he'' out of me. It was dense and heavy bread. Flavor that made memories. :P0 -

Next time try the refrigerated Sauerkraut instead of the canned...much better!0 -
