    I used to get a new Far Side calendar every year! I sure do miss The Far Side! Most of G. Larson's stuff was MY KIND OF HUMOR. 8-) :D

    In classic mechanics, energy is equal to mass times the square of velocity. This is used when calculating the energy of a particular cartridge loading for example.

    Therefore, the maximum energy of a given mass is when that mass is accelerated to maximum possible velocity. E = MC^2 is the logical result of the relativistic principle that mass cannot be accelerated to light speed, rather that the total potential of any given mass is realized when that mass is fully converted to energy moving at the speed of light.

    As mentioned above, there's no deep or hidden meaning. It's just that idea of Einstein playing pro basketball is hilarious on its own.

    When I look over my academic resume, I recall 6 long months I spent attending Ga. Tech. I did not take any physics courses, but, I walked past the physics building several times. I could spell the word "Physics" when I was 11 years old.

    I don't get the cartoon.

    You can't explain humor like the far side to people. You either get it or you don't.

    The cartoon is dated 1987. If that is when the cartoon originally appeared perhaps something happened that year which would put it into context. I also see Einstein and the four other players around the basket have the same uniform on, hence they are all on the same team?
