gonna start a fire........
yesterday was 75 and sunny, got up this morning and about 45 and raining, supposed to rain most of day, there is just something about the damp air that makes you even colder. to stubborn to start the furnace so gonna go to basement and light fire and sit infront of the stove. there is something about an open fire that seems warmer than any heat out of the furnace. got a couch down there that hasn't been used all summer, time for the old western channell in front of open fire........

if I read the radar right, looks like this mess is heading your way Jim, we have had a few good thunderstorms mixed in with the constant drizzle, only going to get to high of 50 or so, can't really complain we need the rain, heard we were 7 inches short for the summer......... just something about lighting the furnace, guess it means your admitting summer is over and winter is here0 -
Yep, I planted grass (rye and fescue) yesterday, so I ain?t bitchin? about the rain. Maybe they?ll lift the open fire ban . 0 -
Have a couple of brush piles to burn but it has either been to windy or to wet the last three weeks. Usually love autumn with the smell of wood smoke and the fall colors. So far no wood smoke and the leaves are falling before any real color change

Lit my first fire yesterday morning. About 32?. (Played hookie from work, burned a Vacation day.) I have been sleeping so poorly, I have just been exhausted. 2-3 hrs/night. 3-4 if I am lucky.
Will light one again tonight. Supposed to get down to low 30's again.
We Finally had a long soaking rain today. Needed it bad.0 -
I really miss not having a real wood fire in the house. It has been quite a few years. Having a gas log fireplace, while nice and convenient, is just not the same!
