Forgot My Password!

Got logged out of the forums yesterday and about tore my study apart trying to find my password that I had scratched onto an old receipt back when the place changed over.

I hit the change password option during log in and put in my E-mail address. Site said I should have received notice from GB, but did not get anything from them (except 3 new GB messages about their products!) :(
Tried this again a couple more times and getting the same (nothing) results. Pretty sure our forum membership and activity are very high up on the GB priority list. green font low on ink

This morning I had an :idea: and scrolled through several months worth of old E-mails. There it was!

I guess the moral of my story is, if you're as scatter brained as I am, it is best NOT to keep a neat empty inbox folder in your E-mail account! :shock:

    I keep most of my password hints in my contacts list on my phone. I create a contact like ?gunbroker? and in the notes portion I list my login ID and a hint to my password. Just need to remember to change the hint when I change the password.

    Passwords for GB and other generic kind of web sites, why not just have it written down in plain sight where you can get to it easily?? I understand keeping bank accounts and similar info with a hard to find password but I'm having trouble understanding what someone can do if they have access to both your computer and your GB password. What am I missing here?? I'm trying to figure out why anyone would want my GB, Burpee, Ameriherbs, Ruger Forum or I Wanna, etc., passwords and what they could do if they had them?? I just don't see anyone going to Burpee's and ordering seeds with my password! :D

    Well I have been wanting some hemp seeds. Actually I agree as long as your forum password and your auction password are different. I could get up to some serious mischief if I had your auction side password Dreher.

    I downloaded Dashlane several years ago to keep my passwords. Lately I have been having trouble with it not loading up at startup. Then I discovered that Firefox automatically has all my passwords in it.
    If you have Firefox, go to the upper right corner of any Firefox screen and click on the 3 horizontal bars. That will bring up a menu, scroll down to logins and passwords, then click on that.
    That will bring up a column on the left side of the screen. Scroll through the sites listed until you come to the one you want, highlight it, then click on the copy button, and it will fill in the login info.

    My computer keeps my passwords and I don't have to type them in when I go to the site, it does it automatically. What would it matter if someone got hold of all my passwords to different forum sites? I keep important passwords some where else.

    I found out I was logged out yesterday for the first time since the "new" forum got over its initial hiccups. I sorta panicked as I can't remember what my password is. Let out a big sigh of relief when I hit the login button and found I had told it to remember me. Hit login and was back. Being an old fart not only have I forgot my password but must have forgot to write it down. Bob

    I have a Word document in my "Computer Programs" folder titled "Website Passwords".

    It has my login IDs and Passwords.

    That is OK, isn't it?

    P.S.

    I am running Windows 98 on a dial-up connection with a CRT monitor using a Tandy cassette tape computer.
