In my opinion, if you shoot an unarmed, unthreatening individual, standing on his front porch, you have committed murder. Not manslaughter, murder.

If you hired this person, trained this person, signed off on his annual reviews you need to, as a minimum to be sued into bankruptcy. In my opinion there is no way somebody that incompetent would not have been on somebodies radar screen.

A friend did it to me once, back in the ?80?s. Sort of.
We were at his house sampling some moonshine. He had to work the next day, so he told me to take the jug and go home. He called me later and said to bring the jug back. I refused. (We were pretty heavy drinkers at the time). He started calling ever couple of minutes so I took the phone off the hook.
Later I was awakened by red lights and sirens outside my house. He had called the fire department and gave my address.
I went out and told the guys it was a false alarm.
I knew it was him but he denied it to the day he died.

For those that open carry. This is a wakeup call. This swatting thing, has become a weapon to be used against all legitimate open gun carriers. The leftie media, has urged their various followers and fellow travelers. To call 911, if they see anyone open carrying. It's their way, of waging war, against gun owners and open carriers.

In my state of residence, open carrying is legal and not uncommon. Because of these lefty turds, who are going to call 911 every time they see a open carrier. It can be a very dangerous situation, for the legitimate open carrier. The badge boys get their spinkters knotted. Every time they get, a "man with a gun" call. And rightly so. Because of this, really bad things can happen very quickly. Between the open carrier, and the responding cops.

Open carrying in a urban area, has always been questionable to me. The above is just another reason, to reconsider open carrying, IMHO.

If you carry a gun, be prepared to use it against any and all threats. If the fuzz is planning to murder you, why not make them work for it?

because you are outnumbered at least 5 to 1, they have automatic weapons and full body armor, they aren't leaving and you aren't getting away. just comply and tell them you are the wrong guy.

if they actually wanted to murder you from the start, forget it. you're toast.

I think whoever gets busted for "swatting" should have the book thrown at them. attempted murder, reckless endangerment, filing a false police report, wire fraud, you name it. and make them pay for the expenses.

if they are going to send out a S.W.A.T. team because of one phone call, they should refuse to do so unless they can verify the identity of the caller to hold them responsible for false information like this.

What mobuck describes is also known as suicide by cop.

I agree with several of the saner comments here: open carry is just plain nuts in an urban environment, and the person making a swatting "joke" ought to be prosecuted for every felony charge that can be dreamed up.

The police are supposed to be the trained professionals. An unarmed man gets killed on his own front porch, a 13 year old kid gets killed while walking to play air-soft games with his friends, an unarmed man gets killed because he looses a game of Simon says. Just to name a few recent ones off of the top of my head. Three of the things in common, none of these people did anything to warrant a police response, all were called in by someone, none of the professionals involved correctly identified the situation and none were held accountable for their actions.

Yes it's a rough job and everyone wants to go home at the end of their shift. But they applied for the job and received training to do it. The police are supposed to be the professionals. The 13 year old kid isn't supposed to be trained not to turn toward a person that yells at them. A drunk isn't supposed to be trained to play a lethal game of Simon says. A man doing nothing wrong isn't supposed to be trained to be a robot when his home is under siege. The police are supposed to be the professionals keeping these people from getting killed.

I have been in a situation where I couldn't comply with an officer's commands, because I was getting two conflicting commands from 2 different officers. I was in control enough to do nothing, not even twitch. I wasn't in the wrong and I wan't charged with anything. But I could have ended up dead anyway.

    And then....
There is the little old widow that lives on the corner.

Dope dealers hang out at the intersection and ply their trade.

The widow has called 911 a number of times but nothing happens.

Out of desperation, today, she called the cops and reported the main dealer (dreadlocks, pants down to his knees, gold chain, etc.) for dealing drugs and threatening a guy with a handgun.

Lights and sirens! 3 cop cars!

    YOU BEEN SWATTED!
