Chain saws & D9 Cats..................

Just my 2 cents worth, but if the California left wing tree huggin' whack jobs would allow clear cutting and firebreaks to be done, then most of the wild fire problem would be contained, or not be much of a area burned.
BUT nooooooo, don't cut some trees and run a few dozers around, let a b-zillion trees burn, tens of thousands of acres of forest, thousands of homes and unknown number of people die, plus no way to even begin to add up the damage to wildlife, oh yeah, pull the plug on the electric power too.

    Around here, the power companies clean out the rights of way whether you like it or not. My hunting lease has a big high voltage line going through it. We have a deal with the power company, we keep the brush and limbs trimmed to their specs in return for being able to place stands every 400 yards along it up against the tree line, and we can plant food plots in there, too. A win-win if you ask me.

    Same here. High voltage towers/lines on the east side of our property. We were forced into an easement and they cut down about 100 50 to 60 foot pines to keep anything from being near the transmission lines. We made them pay dearly for the easement and the cutting but damn I wish the trees were still there. A couple of years later they said they needed to take out another couple of rows and we really made them pay dearly for those! Now they come every couple of years and mow the brush. Bob

    Here in KY there were lots of folks that raised Cain about "Butchering" trees along power lines, then we had a bad ice storm with lots of limbs on lines and suddenly trim crews got a lot more freedom to trim. :roll:

    Yep every 3 years they come by and check/trim the right of way. This years crew did a nice job, much better than the yawho's the last several times.

    What is the un-employment rate in Ca? I think they need workfare and those folks should be out cleaning up the land of accumulated deadfall/brush and contour ditching to help control run off. So tell me how good the habitat for some endangered rat is when the fire burns so hot it sterilizes the ground.
