11B6R - Re: John Boy and Billy AM show.
Where did you hear this stuff Brother? I thought it was Southern Fare only.
I used to listen to it, in my very large L90 Volvo Grapple loader, at the Sawmill on 101.5, WQUT.
Yes the NASCAR Skit is Epic. As well as the "Redneck Whisperer." Etc. Etc. Funniest stuff EVER. Their Morning Shows and the subsequent Skits were Killer.
"Obama's Crystal Mountain."

You other guys, see Locust Forks "Ethnic Shampoo," thread. (To see,) What we are talking about.
If you have never heard this stuff, google it. Funniest Morning Show EVER.

Long before John Boy teamed up with Billy he was a dis-jockey on WRJZ radio in Knoxville, TN back in the mid 70s.
I used to see him at the Holiday Inn lounge at the 17th street exit off of I-40/75 in Knoxville every time I went in there at happy hour. He was a nut and he kept the whole lounge laughing when he was there. He would stay there until it was time for him to go on the air at 8:00 PM and then rush out of the place late and if you were listening to the radio you could hear him when he came roaring into the studio and went on the air because he'd be stoned and loud.
He had the number one rock-n-roll radio station in the area for several years and the management of the radio station put up with him since he was so popular but he got to wild and he finally said somethings on the air that got him run off.0 -
They were good but Robert D. Raiford made'em famous "who said that...I did, Robert D. Raiford" .........

84Bravo- I'm a Virginian. Despite the Beltway Bandits, we are still South. Think I can recall meeting John Boy and Billy at the South Boston NASCAR Truck races (been a while)
Remember listening to the Big show with Wordy Word and Karl Childers (Like me some biscuits with mustard Umm Humm?.)0 -
john boy was a ceap knockoff of Bob and Tom. they were funny, perhaps too funny on things that just weren't that funny.... i could get them in southern illinois[home] and the road to son's college meets in kentucy, tenn, and bama 0 -
My favorite was the fictional black NASCAR driver, LeRoy Watermelon driving the Afro-Sheen Cadillac.
Haven't been able to get them since I moved back to Michiganistan.0 -
If you thought the NASCAR skit was funny, check out "The Redneck Whisperer."
I was laughing so hard, I couldn't breathe.0 -
They also had a funny skit called "Taco Bill". I'd like to be able to find that one again. 0
