old fellow who owned a local garage had an old manjy looking german shepard tied up in corner, he would let loose overnight. I was talking to him one day and started to walk over to the dog, he yelled at me to stop. guess the dog would let you walk up and pet him, but when you turned to walk away he would bite you in back of leg or butt..... actually chewed on any of the tools/wrences he would drop. he never growled or barked just layed there....

We were working for some folks who had a Beagle named "Barney". As you approached, he would run away barking, then when you turned your back, he would run up and bite the h$%^ out of your leg! We learned to face him at all cost! Ol' Barney met his end when he tried to bite one of the owner's horses. One kick was all it took.
