Accidentally bought ethnic shampoo......not a fan, but tried it out
I've always wondered about hair products. I haven't ever asked a black friend of mine about their routine and what would happen if they used what I use. Its shampoo.....how different can it be???
Very.....it can be very different.
I picked up a big bottle of something that smelled like coconut and looked like brown oil. I figured it would make my hair smell great and the oil couldn't be a bad thing.
OMG......this stuff was like pouring cooking oil on your head and took forever to wash out (with normal shampoo.)
I didn't see it on the bottle at first......but when I told my daughter how much I hated this shampoo and asked her if she wanted to try it.....she looked at the bottle and said....."Mama, this is for black ladies."
Ohhhhhh.....okay.....now I know. We have learned something new.

This has to be one of the humorist posts in a very long time. Did your hair go kinky, knappy or you going to use a wig? 0 -
There is such a wide variation among "Caucasian" body products that it may be unwise to draw a conclusion from that one kind of shampoo, LF. If you ask a Black friend, she might say that product is just as horrible for her as it was for you. 0 -
Can't wait for the cries of 'cultural appropriation' to start!
We talk about a lot of things on here, but I do believe this is a first.0 -
I did read once, blacks don't/can't get lice because their hair is actually triangular and not round so the nits can't attach themselves to the hair.....
I found that interesting........
Probably a question that will never be on Jeopardy!0 -

once I had a job interview at a mfr of skin care products. talking to the guy who formulates the stuff, PhD in cosmetology. he was saying different ethnicities indeed have different skin and hair, so the soap, shampoo, skin lotion, shaving cream, all that stuff is different. 0 -
My daughter took it with her to give to someone she knows. She told me she read the ingredients and it had castor oil in it. I feel so greasy just thinking about my experience with it. 0 -

One of my favorite episodes EVER.
"Sponsored by Bose Stereo, Maico Bodywork/Painting and Afro-Sheen."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring your attention to Section 1A, Row 3B, Seat 5C, A Black Man." (Picture it done in announcer echo.)
(Before you PC Nazi's get bent out of shape, the skit was done by a Black Dude/Comedian.) [Marvin Webster?] Freakin' Hysterical.
"My idea of a good time does not involve a bunch of drunk shirtless Rednecks, yelling Yee-Haw."

Ever hear the one about the "Redneck Whisperer?" I was laughing so hard, I was choking.
Good stuff right there.
If any of you have not heard this stuff, Google it. Seriously Funny Stuff. (John Boy and Billy Morning Show.)
Kasey - You used to have "Dreads," (SP?) for a long time. What is your issue with "Ethnic Shampoo?"
 :?
