Johnnie Walker Blue or Macallan 18 yr

I am going to open one of these tonight, which one would you choose?

    Blue is a blend Macallan is a single malt.

    I would probably go with the Macallan but I have always enjoyed Johnny Blue.

    There is a lot to be said for the consistency of blends such as the Johnnie Walker Blue.

    I am personally not a huge fan of Macallan at 12 or 18, but the 25 was something special.

    Whiskey is an individual thing, and everyone enjoys different things. We have a bottle of 25 year old GlenDronach single cask that is incredible, and on the flip side, we have a $ 27.00 bottle of Monkey Shoulder that is surprisingly good. Was introduced to Monkey Shoulder following a golf tournament in Scotland (about 20 kilometers from the Glenmorangie distillery, Mark) and if the members at Royal Dornoch liked it, I figured it was worth a shot.

    Or two.

    Or three.

    It is a $27.00 bottle, after all.

    Whichever you pick Austin, enjoy.

    There are certain Scotch brands I like and others I don?t. I love Laphroig 10 and Balvenie. Tried some Dalmore 15 yesterday and did not care for it.

    Funny you mention Dalmore. I recently emptied a 15 yr old and liked it so much I replaced it with an 18 yr old Dalmore. When are friends got here last night and we started talking about which scotch to open one of the guys wanted to try the 18 Dalmore ( I think it was because of the cool bottle) so for those of us who wanted scotch last night it ended up being the 18 yr old Dalmore.

    Once was enough.

    I think toilet water would taste better ....... in my opinion.

    I am not a fan of the red or black johnnie, but I am gonna have to take your word on the toilet water :lol: . ;)
