Starting to really dislike insurance companies

We have had StateFarm covering home and autos for 30 years and only claim was tornado damage 10 years ago. House is paid for , cars are paid for.. notice homeowners going up $400 year. Which is strange since firehouse 3 miles up the road just got recertifications and reduced from a 9 to a 5 .. every other company reduced rates because of new better fire rating. Called Allstate and they come out . Quoted me $600 a year lower , I let my StateFarm agent know I was not renewing homeowners,, so now they are doubling my auto insurance.. I guess I ll call Allstate again

    Erie Insurance my Brother. Very reasonable, and have been excellent in every regards. (2 claims on my Auto, for hitting deer on the way in to work, at 4:30/5am.) No raise in rates/policy. Home Owners policy with them, as well.


    Yeah, I do not do business with Companies wishing/seeking to take advantage of me. (Really STUPID long term business plan.)

    One word comes to mind.

    Just received my renewal Ins on my house. For 6 months coverage it is now $880 and goes up every year. That's for $175,000 house and $40,000 contents plus other crap.

    For one year coverage that will be more than $1,700. I think that is a bit much and will be looking for another co next week.

    I paid cash for my house in 1994, so no extras on that.

    Have not had an increase in 7 years on Home, or Auto. :)

    Two claims filed, (deer strikes) on Auto.

    They have been excellent in every regards. (Erie Ins.)

    Highly recommend.

    It is my belief that if insurance was to be invented today it would be labeled a scam.

    I've paid into life insurance my entire adult life and after retirement, payout starts reducing! What scam.

    I had State Farm insurance on a car once, a woman ran a red light and hit me, she was ticketed and her insurance company paid all of the damages. State Farm raised my rates (a lot) I went to their office to see why and was told that since I had been in an accident, I was now considered high risk.
    I canceled with them on the spot went with the insurance company that the woman that hit me had, they were really fair and respectful to me when they came to assess the damages and their rates were much better.
    I would never deal with State Farm again.

    after 40 years with farm bureau (a misnomer because most of their customers are urban) and getting screwed on a hail damage to an irrigated corn crop) and after one minor fender bender in my own driveway in those years ...and the agency manager did not give a chit ....so i took ( 17 ) policies around and told em to match em apples to apples... i ended up with shelter insurance and saved 40% on premium totals and NO annual $40 fee.......it pays to shop around on a regular basis.....but HEY at one of their annual dinners i won a fire extinguisher !!!!! WHEEEE

    I was with State Farm for years, never had a claim. Then all of a sudden my rates started going up. Couldn?t get a straight answer from them, so I switched to Farm Bureau. Rates started up, same as before.
    When it comes to insurance companies, loyalty means nothing.

    For years rate increases or not, every 3 yrs. I send out bid request for blanket coverage on my property, possessions and life........watch them scramble for your business with amazing premiums :o ...but make sure to read/compare the policies.....the ole "apples to apples" thing, not just the dollar cost ;)..............my saying is "don't beg people to take your money, make them work for it". NOTE: I hate insurance companies as much as I do government interference in my life.
