anyone have a Winchester model 74??
Might have a chance to pick up a couple of them. One is a lr version from 53, but the other is a short only from 39. They, along with a model 75 target have my interest piqued... Going to look at them on Sunday...

I have one and it is fun to shoot. Mine doesn't like hollow points they don't cycle well. But it likes lead round nose. There is a you tube video where a guy shows how to take one down. I suggest you watch it before you attempt it yourself.

I have one in .22 short, but haven't shot it. The people on rimfire central speak highly of the 74, but be careful with the safety. I guess it will lock things up pretty well if you try to work the action with the safety on. Many stories on this.
You can't go wrong with the 75. Not quite as accurate as the 52s, but plenty for how I shoot.0 -
Buy them - nice different rifles- Teminton golden bullet solids works well I believe 0 -
have one my grandfather gave me, it will eat anything, hollow or solid, most any brand, with a better set of eyes it will split holes at 50 yards, mine gave out long time ago, but can still make golf balls dance out to 50 yards with cheap wally world 2x7 scope. it is definately getting passed down to my grandkids.......... 0 -
Made a firing pin for a 74 for a friend. Shot a couple boxes thru it to test it. Wish I wouldn't have had to give it back. 0 -
