I don't think there's any of them real close, Neo. Missoula is about the closest, which is 2 hours, maybe a bit more. 0 -

Thanks, HPD, that's what I thought, but figured I'd check. I'm up here for my Sis in laws 60th birthday and to scope out my future home site.
That project'll be firing up in about 18 months.0 -
Is anyone even willing to admit to being close to Kalispell?Horse Plains Drifter wrote:I don't think there's any of them real close, Neo. Missoula is about the closest, which is 2 hours, maybe a bit more.0 -

The upside being that with your driving ability and medical conditions, you'd fit in just fine driving with Missoula county or Idaho plates on your car. If you couple that with what appears to be a mandatory smartphone in your hand at all times, and no sense of situational awareness, you'd be nigh on invisible in those areas.
The drivers using those particular plates must surely be used to my scrambled profanity and randomly-orbital arm movements by now.

Kalispell is a great jumping off point.
Head north and west from there and you'll see some of the most beautiful country under The Big Sky. (IMHO)
Up on the highline is Eureka, where I saw numerous Whitetail bucks with some of the most impressive headgear imaginable.
Pass through Libby quickly (unless you've been vaccinated against mesothelioma) on your way to Troy.
Thompson Falls, where the Bighorns literally graze by the roadside.
I envy you being in that area at this time of year!0 -
Plus you are within striking distance of Polebridge, or even to make a Yak attack.sxsnuf wrote:Kalispell is a great jumping off point.

why, i will have you know, i love driving in Montana[when i could], and the other drivers liked me too. i brought my slow deliberate speed limits with me from Illinois, and Montana folks appreciated my driving. they honked and waved all the time. iliked being #135 Whelen wrote:discusdad wrote:i'm nearly 4 hours south of ya, which is no big deal. everything in montana is 4 hrs away..at least...problem is my driving ability these days....sciatica and cataracts.. i'm not safe anymore
