Nutrition facts
I was looking at a bag of skittles a little more closely than usual and pondered the fact they are required to post nutrition facts on their product. Seems to me, maybe folks could just accept there's no nutrition in some things people eat.
Anyway, if you look up the definition of nutrition, I don't think any of the "facts" that are listed really give you any real insight into the nutrition provided by the snack (or any other food for that matter):
Nutrition is the science that interprets the interaction of nutrients and other substances in food in relation to maintenance, growth, reproduction, health and disease of an organism. It includes food intake, absorption, assimilation, biosynthesis, catabolism and excretion.

Fact:
Causes 9 year old children to bounce off the walls until way past their bedtime.0 -
Got more "nutrition" in a can of Pabst than in a sack of skittles. 0 -
I pondered upon this myself some time ago and wondered since man cannot live on bread alone, could he possibly survive if he shared his bread with a friend.
Then there was this fad dill pickle diet that claimed you would lose all of the weight you needed to, just by eating nothing but dill pickles for weeks or months on end. If you are a calorie counter, this one should work! At least until you die from a sodium overdose.0 -
We must have some place to state peanut or tree nut content or manufacture in a facility that uses peanuts or tree nuts in other products...
Less we endanger the Lil One's with deadly peanut allergies.
It's all about the children.
Plus the info panel let's smart folk make informed choices - even though most stupid steeple ignore it...
Look at the waning content and message and size on cigarettes - stopped not one single person from smoking...
The kicker is the portion game the manufacturer plays - say calling a standard can of soda 8 portions...
And making the sugar and fat and sodium and calorie content appear far less then it really is...
I recently saw Dixie cup ice cream were each cup was 3 servings...
Like that ever happened in the history of ice cream.
