Buying bargains you don't need
I bought a new 1986 Liberty Edition Harley Sportster that I rode 16k miles in about 30 months. Against the advice of friends I let it go. I now have a chance to get a 2005 883 with 7k miles for only $1600. My wife is against it. I pointed out that unlike the animals she continues to "rescue" that a bike won't need spayed, neutered, shots, flea treatment, food, or any other thing if it's just sitting in the garage. And I'm guessing at that price I could probably enjoy riding it for awhile and make a little money off it.

its a 1000 times less painful to beg forgiveness, than it is to ask permission from the wife unit 0 -
Buy it.
Make at least $1000 in the spring if nothing else.0 -
The market for used Harley?s is soft right now. Lots of good deals out there.
I just can?t put the terms ?enjoy riding? and ?Sportster? together in the same sentence.0 -

Just think of all the rescue animals you could pay for with the profit from selling it....

Add a side car and it's a rescue animal emergency transport vehicle...

You make the money on the purchase not the sell. If bought cheap enough an item can be sold for that price or more. 0 -
I have bought a lot of guns, and a few boats, tools, and a vehicle or two because they were just too good to pass up. More than once I have used something for many years, only to still turn a profit. I have bought a few calibers that I wouldn't normally have bought. Most of them were Remington 700's that I bought complete, some with scopes, cheaper than just the action would cost. I then could always have it re-barrelled if I didn't like it and it wouldn't sell.
Nothing against you Discusdad, but personally, I have always hated the phrase "easier to beg forgiveness than to ask for permission". While there are little things that may be applicable, most that I know use that logic are the ones that trespass, enter without permission, hunt without permission, "borrow" something and only bring it back after the person says something. One guy is so bad about this that when he says that line, I just say good luck with that defense on your rape trial. Though I haven't seen him doing anything inappropriate with women, he seems the type to be just one step from it.0 -

Really didn't need it but....
While back my Son called, he was at Walmart. Asked if I needed any 22 Short Ammo. Well I don't have any thing that uses 22 Short.
Asked how much it was Little boxes are $ 1.99 and big boxes are $ 5.99. It's on the clearance shelves section in the store. (Not Gun department)
Spent about $ 48.00 + Tax
The $1.99 was 50 rds, the $5.99 was 500 rds.
Still working thru the last box of 50. Still have 7, of the 500 Rd Boxes.
That was about 3 years ago.
Might have to dig those out, have a Gun Show in a Week.0 -
Yep, I know the feeling. Right now on that guy's list is a 75KW Onan generator for $3500. It's about 100-125 miles away, which is a GOOD thing.
