a few more CCW deals IMO....

I posted these a few weeks back since I thought that they were a good deal, and they sold out from the exposure here. I have them on my watch list and a few more popped up.. IMO, they are a really great gun at a great price.. No dog in the fight, just trying to help others find a good deal.

    Have to agree and pile on...

    I understand the no snag quick draw from a pocket argument...

    But after being quick active shooter and collector for 35 years the hammer spur SA/DA variant is the superior choice and offers more control.

    I say that because I taught woman's CCW courses for decades and in the rush to draw the gun and squeeze the double action trigger the rounds went all over - but almost never hit the target...

    It's the myth of the old west gunfight.

    We are taught through mythology and fiction that the quickdraw wins every time.

    Historical accounts prove this false - the patient aimed shot - even sacrificing speed almost always hit the target and put it down while the premature fast draw folk were firing first but hitting empty air...

    I have carried both and I stand by my opinion.

    These are priced very well for a new smith .38. I am tempted myself.

    I carry a .38 smith with the bobbed hammer and shroud. I can cock it and fire single action, this really helps accuracy at distance. The pistol will draw from my pocket slick as can be. I've carried it for a few decades and accuracy hasn't been an issue, even in double action. A well positioned holster will allow you to get your hand on your weapon and draw faster than a pocket carry will, with practice of course. Pocket carry is simpler, the draw is not slow and the weapon is completely covered. Printing is the only thing that could give away you have a firearm on you. Most important is it's simple and the gun is with me.

    I have other weapons and holsters I can use, and occasionally do. But the simplicity of the pocket carried .38 makes it the most useful for me. My .38 has the original wooden grips, larger grips take up more room, slow down the draw and the extra bulk prints more.

    If I went double action only I will most likely go with the Ruger LCR in .327 federal. But I would have a hard time giving up the option to fire single action if it's needed.

    I own a 642 and a 442 and love them both. I have fired thousands of rounds double action practicing and competing in PPC and bowling pin matches and like shooting a revolver double action.

    My 642 came from Ricci.

    It has become my favorite everyday carry, over all my other choices. (And I have a few to choose from.)




    I have other, get home choices, (if the SHTF) in backpacks/locked hardcase trunks in my vehicles, should the need arise. Just a Wee bit more firepower, if called for. :D

    I can shoot my S&W 340 PD .357 Mag snubby as well as I can one with an external hammer. You can squeeze and stage the trigger because there's a definite click right before the hammer falls.

    I tried a friends 642 over a decade ago. Didn?t love it.

    So I bought my first purchase on GB, a 637-2. Yes, it has the lock, but I unlocked it, and it?s never been a problem.

    It?s my ?most days? ccw. I have a pocket holster for it, and carry it a lot.

    I sometimes carry a revolver, both hammer (360PD) and hammerless (640) as well as a tiny NAA mini-revolver tucked in a watch pocket.

    However, the state-of-the-art in handguns is semi-auto (Glock) in my opinion.
    Powerful, accurate, superior firepower, dependable, and simple.
