Dump those properties and enjoy your retirement! I only have four rentals and am quickly getting tired of the landlord game. Think I will get a self storage building instead. 0 -

Congratulations to you. You're going to enjoy it.
I was retiring back in 2012 and my company asked if I would consider working 3 days a week instead of completely retiring to finish up a project in Augusta, GA for them. I got to thinking that just might work out being semi retired for a couple of years first instead of quitting cold turkey.
I would drive over to Augusta on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning from Atlanta and work 3 days and spend 2 or 3 nights in my Travel Trailer that I requested they pay me to buy instead of paying for motel rooms. Then I would drive back home on Friday evening and spend 4 or 5 nights at home. That worked out cheaper for them to buy the travel trailer and more convenient for me plus I had a travel trailer after the job was finished to use or sell. My wife went with me since she was already retired and we had a good time exploring and checking out the area in the afternoons a couple of days a week for nearly 2 years.
After that project was complete they requested that I do the same thing on another project in WV for a couple more years. I checked it out and it was a long drive back in the sticks and I was really ready to throw the towel in and retire by that time. So I told them thanks I appreciated the offer but it was time for me to go. So in 2014 I called it quits and I'm glad I did. I love having no schedule to be any where at any certain time. No more meeting, no more idiots to have to deal with...yee haw, free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, free at last!
This morning my wife ask me is this Tuesday and I said I think it's Sunday. She got her phone off the night stand to see and said no it's Monday. I said does it matter? She said well no it don't. So we rolled over and went back to sleep for a another hour and a half. Then we came downstairs and drank some coffee and decided we'd go mail one of the grandkids a birthday present and stop by Home Depot and pick up a new charcoal grill but they didn't have what we wanted. So we came back home and I hung a new mirror on the bathroom wall that she wanted installed. While she cooked up a steak and some shrimp that was really good as usual. Now we're just sitting here shooting the bull messing with our lap tops and half way watching Mysteries in the Museum on TV. Life is good.0 -
Congrats on the anniversary and good luck with retirement. I have been off wok for medical reasons the last few months and have enjoyed not having the pressure of work on my shoulders. However, I do miss some of the interaction and stimulation so you may want to find something to do to keep you going once you "retire". 0
