I was at walmart the other day
Man, there are a lot of weirdos there. One fewer after I left, but still...

It never ceases to amaze me how these people get through life. They seem to be able to reach for the chips and salsa but other than that , lost. Only reason I go there is it is real close from home and the other store (IGA) closed which I frequented and Kroger now is just as bad. Although Kroger does have some nice eye candy which I don't see at the Mart. 0 -
My wife sends me there to get certain items...which they are nearly always out of.
Big ugly lady was scanning receipts at the door.
The clerk had stapled a piece of paper to my receipt and told me to go to that web address and leave feedback about my visit and I may win $1000.
I pulled the piece of paper off the receipt and handed to the BUL.
She demanded, "What's this?"
As I sailed thru the door I called over my shoulder, "You could win $1000!"
Really ugly, she growled, "Come back! I have to scan your receipt!"
Stopping just outside the door, I said, "You can scan it if you can catch me." (I'm a crippled old man).
She glared for a few seconds then returned to her station. "Damned people have been doing that to me all day!" she complained to no one.

visit people of walmart .com for the best of the best
it seems to bring out the best people . local places not much different some amazing looking and sadly smelling people show up
one of the local wally worlds I was talking to a door receipt's checker ( nice old fellow ) about the self check outs he told me that had to be loosing there ass so many people they will scan one bag three and so on.. told me he personalty has stopped several locals pushing full cart loads of items out with no receipt maybe a coat or baby blanket tossed over it and now they are bagging or not bagging there own items its its gotten worse . said
several times he stopped people with a big screen TV or big ticket item with a 2.00 or 3.00 price tag and receipt taped to it .0 -

Had this discussion with a colleague this am. He was complaing about going to Walmart, and that there were two cashiers, and about 10 self- checkout lanes.
I told him, "People that love to steal, LOVE those self-checkout lanes. Scan one, toss three in the bag." Etc.
It donned on him, what I was saying.
Penalizes honest people, having to check out their own merchandise. Rewards Crooks/Scammers. (Bonus!)

Walmart employs an astounding 2.1 million people. In the United States alone, the company employs 1.4 million people. This is a staggering 1% of the U.S.'s 140 million working population.
There is a SUPER WALMART within 10 minutes of me in all four directions. Going to a "grocery store" would cost me money just in gas and to buy what? and pay more for it?
I buy prime meats from another location but don't BBQ or grill as much.
I probably live in an upscale area and don't see the much difference between walmart shoppers and "others".
Walmart, in HOUSTON is offering free grocery delivery. Walmart has been silently competing with Amazon and offers delivery/mail delivery to your home or pick up at a local store of your choice. HANDY,, no more boxes left at front door of house to be stolen.
Walmart stock was a buy some time back and will pickup some more if there is a drop. Frankly I made more money off Walmart Stock than I've spent there in the last 8 months. :<)0 -
Keep letting people steal for themselves using "self-checkout," those figures will reverse themselves.

Coming from a long term (27 year) Manager of a very large retail store. (17 million/year, in the store I helped manage.) People will steal you blind, if you allow it.

Even Colt has given up on the AR15.

1st Walmart from the hood of Newark can run a shuttle bus to the jail with all the serial shoplifters they catch.
Gets busier after 2 pm when the usual suspects get up.
Car jacking or 3 monthly too.
OH Leave your right turn signal on when you park because when stolen it will take an immediate right turn towards the Newark rat hole.

I refuse to use the self checkout lane unless I have just a couple items. I won't use them anywhere, Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, etc. I am not going to do the job for free while they lay off workers. Many may look down upon it, but it is a good starter job for a young person. I'd certainly rather do that than fast food.
I do use the gas pump reader however. Ever since we had to start pre-paying... But, that idea (which is now law here) also costs them a lot in ancillary sales as I used to often get a snack or drink "while I am in there" but usually won't go in just to do that.0 -

If you (as a Company) are unwilling to provide a human to take my $$, and check me out - I (as a Customer,) am unwilling to give you my $$.

I feel the same way about self checkout lanes. If the store gave me a 10% discount on all of my purchases, I might just use one. Taking away someone's job and giving it to the paying customers to do is IMO downright criminal.
Heck! Way back in the day when my 3rd son was born, they wanted the fathers to be a part of the delivery. (My first 2 were delivered before us dads were allowed to be there.)
The kid pops out and the doctor handed me his scissors and tells me to cut the cord. I told him only if he takes a good chunk off my bill!0 -

There's your feedback, Walmart! Right on. I know some here won't agree with you and I but the checker saw me leave the cashier right next to her.This time i had had it. I pulled out my Vet Card, Enhanced Drivers License and NY State Consealed Permit. I said "do I look like a criminal to you." Still wanted receipt in my pocket. I said to " call a State Trooper if she wanted receipt". Then I walked out.
No more pistol or short barrel ammo. Also, they have made a record for a long time on .22 ammo. " Will this ammo be used in a Pistol or Rifle." Give me a break. Hey Walmart, you are starting to wear out your welcome.0 -

I sort of chuckle when reading these posts BUT it seems some folks don't really understand the significance of WalMart outside of suburbia.
In rural America:
1: Walmart is often toward the edge of town meaning it's easier to access with a pickup and 20+' trailer, grain truck, farm equipment
2:The parking lot is large and has room to park the above mentioned conveyance
3: Once inside, you can find new socks, a gallon of motor oil or sweet tea(whichever is most needed), snacks, or your prescription can be filled
4: The above can usually be handled 24/7(maybe not the script)
5:You can buy that deer tag you forgot and still reach the hunting spot before daylight
6: As mentioned, you can often see disgusting people(?) who make most normal folks feel good that they don't look like that
7:Many communities only have one source that can provide all I've mentioned and accept the bad with the good0 -

I also refuse to shop at Walmart, for various reasons.
Home Depot, on the other hand, I shop at a lot. They only have self checkouts open, most every time I?m there. I just use the contractor check out lane at the far end of the bldg. always a person there, and it?s the only way to get a 10% military discount.

I did not look back at this thread until today. There are multiple articles stating the CEO of wal-mart said they would be sending out letters asking congress for more gun control laws.
