SolidWorks Question
I have purchased ver 2013 and ver 2017 in past years. They both have been installed on two home laptops. First install was on my 17" but it was difficult to use traveling. I then bought a 14" which is small but powerful and is easier to have in my carry-on. The 17" is all but dead and the 14" has trouble booting up so I bought a new laptop this summer. It was no surprise that I can't install SolidWorks because I only allowed 2 installs. My question is how do I uninstall on one or both of the old computers. I would think that a simple software uninstall would not be enough as SolidWorks Corp.Wouldn't know that have done this.

I know this is not the help you want but after dancing this dance with other software suppliers, I now resort to calling Customer Service to explain the situation.
If you have a disc for installation, it has a lock on it after running twice. If you have to go to the supplier's website, you're SOL since they know how often you used the download.
You shouldn't be penalized for having obsolete or down equipment and no software to run on the new stuff. But the money grubbers might disagree with my thinking...

Some software has to be online to be activated. They can also be deactivated online as well. Some better written examples record if/when they get uninstalled. Some have to have some manual deactivation done. Others yet, you might have created an online account when you first installed it and you can go on and deactivate it from a web portal. Lastly, when I worked where we used SolidWorks, some of the drafting CAD machines had a USB keyfob. It had to be in the machine for the software to work.
If you have to buy it again, copy/write all kinds of info when you register it so you will have the serial number, account info, etc.0 -
