Does anybody Else Have This Problem
Every gun that i own i have at least 2 guns in that caliber. I try and by a bunch of ammo so if anything happens i am prepared.
I just put a 25-06 on layaway so now i will be looking for another 25-06 to have a backup in case one breaks.
It will bother me until i buy another. It drives me crazy.

Dave if I buy one Japanese Imperial military type 99 arisaka bolt action rifles I must end up with 3 examples...
Is I acquire a Swedish Mauser Bolt action rifle I need to pick up two additional variants...
Even worse I have picked up the habit of somehow ending up with a bayonet - and conversely must possess the accompanying rifle or carbine...
If I pick up a mixed lot of .236 Lee navy full metal jacket rifle cartridges and empty cases from an estate sale or gun show I somehow end up with the matching rifle.
It's a tragic condition.

I collect US military battle rifles . . . . . so I am pretty much set on .30-06.

Davem have you ever considered you have the "hoarder" gene in your make-up? after al, this buying multiples of the same items shows in your tool purchases, your hardware nuys, pretty much everything you do. while its none of our business how you buy or what you buy, it certainly is a concern of your family to watch this go on. 0 -

I have bought guns simply because someone gave me a box of ammo in a caliber that I didn't have already.0 -
As my signature denotes, I am a 10mm fanatic; have been since the early 90's. With the exception of a couple of the newest ones, I have, have owned, or at least shot every model made. My wife was making fun of me for collecting part of a 1 of 150 series gun. I have 9 of the 150 now. That aside, some guns I have in stainless, so I have to also get a blued one. Or, I bought the carbine then I have to buy the rifle. Or, short barrel pistol then I have to get a long slide version. You get the idea.
Just a few years ago, something like 80% of my collection was either in .22lr or 10mm auto. Since then I have branched out and I have a lot of "ones" now, but even they have a theme. Most of the rifles are Rem 700's, and wherever possible, I buy the Titanium or LVSF series.
It is amusing to look back in time through the purchases I've made gun related. It is easy to follow my logic, well, at least my line of thinking. Whether it was logical or not is another matter. My wife also makes fun of me for having a gazillion web browser tabs open. But, if you start at one end, you can see when I was after, you can see my progression of thought towards a solution. We finally had to agree to use different browsers. Marriage is built on compromise.0
