new medical ????
any of you guys on here been diagnosed with AVN of hip, just had the DR. call and wants me to come in for MRI, had x-rays done last thursday and they showed possibility of it. have been having pain since about april, finally got bad enough to tell DR he sent me up for x-rays and just now called to schedule MRI, they are skipping the normal 6 weeks of physical therapy before the MRI so they must have seen something, he wouldn't go into detail just said as of now it was precautionary to do MRI, most of info on the internet say the only "cure" is hip replacement. don't really want to go that route but seems it is only alternative. guess I will find out in the next few days, just wondering if any of you all have had or know of somenone who had it??

I was 34 when I was diagnosed with it. 2003
Both hips.
My surgeon first tried drilling holes into my femur heads to try to re-stimulate growth and blood flow.
I did not work for me.
I ended up getting "hip resurfacing" because of my age.
It was a cup for the pelvis and a steel ball with a small spike that went into the femur.
The right one failed me in 2010 and had a total done with it.
Good luck to you.

from what I have read the regrowth option isn't very effective, and most now go for the full replacement at stage IV, sorta surprised me it came almost out of blue, only thing is this is the leg they took the bypass veins out of and I have what they call unprovoked blood clots, just guessing I would say it is from one or a combination of these issues, also have bad circulation in legs. with exception of full replacement I'm guessing you have had no further problems. thanks for the infoChief Shaway wrote:I was 34 when I was diagnosed with it. 2003

I get along pretty good but I do watch what I do.
At 34, it hit me very hard that I had to get it done but it could always be worse.
Good luck to you and do the therapy they want you to do.0
