Another VA ?

I would like to get hearing aids through the VA how would i go about that.

Im not interested in using the VA for anything other than hearing aids. I have really great doctors that i am not willing to give up.

So how would i get the VA not to turn me down again. My wife has a decent paying job so that might make mt not qualify.

Any ideas?

    Dave, go to the closest VA clinic or hospital and get yourself an ID card. Get into the system and let them help you with prescriptions and see one of their doctors just once a year for check ups. You can still see your civilian doc anytime you need to.

    You will have no problem getting hearing aids. Just have to be patient.

    I will do that. Im 54 and pay 300 dollars a month for prescriptions. Thats a gift cancer gave me.

    Radiation killed my thyroid gland so i need medicine for that. Plus pain meds and radiation killed my pituitary glands and that medicine is 130 a month just for that.

    Beating cancer is really really expensive.

    However losing is worse.

    I understand that you were turned down once because your loss wasn't "service related." If that happened more than a couple years ago, things have changed. Go back and try again.

    If it was recent, I'd contact your better state Senator and ask for intervention. One call from a Senator's office generally gets things moving pronto.

    I believe that the only part of VA support that is means tested is whether or not you pay the $50 copay for each visit. I am way above their financial cutoff level and do pay the copay each time - but all other VA services, including the hearing aids, were free.

    BTW, as a career military guy, I have both Medicare and Tricare for Life. But as the VA explained to me, keeping my VA account current (with an annual exam) is like insurance for my insurance. VA support is good anywhere, anytime - and Medicare is not. If I ever have something denied by both Moldycare and Try-to-get-care, I can turn to the VA.
