Seller's market
It's a good time to be a seller. I bid on a used .22 rim fire scope. I would have had about 60% of new price in it if I had bought it, not a great bargain but I had use for it. Someone ended up bidding it up and when shipping is included they will pay the same price as they could have ordered a new one (same model) and had it shipped. People crack me up. They will not get the box, lens covers, cleaning cloth or instruction pamphlet they would have got with a new one.
I bid on some ammunition. Same thing, it's bid up higher than I can order it for, including shipping. I'm not complaining, it just cracks me up and makes me shake my head.

+1 and they are getting used item, no warranty or guarantee, which is sometimes not worth the paper written on, but it does give you a little satisfaction when buying new..... 0 -
Check with Ricci. Most of the sellers will tell you it is a buyers market these days. 0 -
Yep same here. I have been looking at used loading dies on the auction. When one includes shipping, the "good" buys are about three bucks less than I can get new for in town. The "regular" buys put them at 5-15 bucks over new in town........ They are nothing I need right now, so I have time to shop. 0 -

Yep, when used guns were selling for 200-500% of what they were worth sellers got used to that. Now that used guns are only selling for 125-175% of what they are worth sellers don't like it. Heck, I probably should sell some of mine.0 -
im averaging 1 gun sale a year.
people are still looking to steal guns, not buy them.0 -

I could use a set of 25-06 and a set of 22-250 full length dies. I have been out of reloading for over 30 years, but am getting back in. As far as brand, any of the name brands is fine with me, RCBS, Lyman, Redding, Hornady, Bonanza, etc. As long as they come from a company still in business. Have seen some Herters, C&H, and such. I have concerns about locating new decapping pins for some of those no longer produced die brands.0 -
I find it mixed around here.
It seems some stuff you can't give away, and anything I like everyone seems to want top dollar plus for!
Take a basic Model 12 Winchester. 25-30 years ago, you could sell them for just about anything you asked! Now, good luck trying to sell a basic plain Jane 12 gauge Model 12! Old Auto 5 and Superposed 12 gauge Brownings are also very difficult to sell! Even Belgium Browning Safari Grade hunting rifles are a difficult sell today! I guess most people that understand quality and beauty already have all they want!
It will be interesting to see what Vintage and "collectible" gun values do in the next 30 years or so.......Are any of the 20-40 year olds even interested in vintage and classic Brownings, Winchesters, Marlins, Colts, Lugers, etc?
I'm 60 and usually feel like one of the younger guys at gun shows......0 -

Let me look around. I inherited a bunch of reloading stuff from a good friend who died 2 years ago. I don't think I have any 25-06 but I do have a set of 257 rbts, 44 mag, 7mm saum, 41mag, 458 lott and some others.
I think Herters dies are a different size or thread pitch but I could be wrong maybe it was the cartridge holder that is different. .0 -
I would just about bet that there are some that do not even look at the cost of new products before bidding on used items. 0 -
