Dog Way Happy -
Unfortunately our local variety store "Fred's," is closing. Everything must go. 20-40% off. Ducked in there this evening on the way home. (Didn't even grab a hand basket.) Big mistake. I was grabbing things up for my dog. A bunch of his favorite heavy duty toys, (Pit worthy.) A bunch of new stuff by the same mnfgr. (Spunky Pup.) A bunch of dog treats. Sliced dried/smoked Pig ears, a bag of dried Cod skins - compressed into 1" squares, new to him.
Got home, tried to give him a cube of dried Cod skins. He was like, "WTH is this?" Gave him a small taste of a bit of one. He loves fish based stuff, Salmon food, etc.
After trying one crunchy tidbit, he was all about them. Big smile on his face, (Yes, you can tell when he is smiling.) "Give me more, give me more." To say he LOVED them would be an understatement. He got about 4-5. The Cod skins are 70% protein. High in essential nutrients and oils. (Were $8.50 after 20% off.) He loves them so much, I may stop in there tomorrow on the way home, and grab the last 4-5 bags. (1# each.)
Snagged a 25# bag of Purina One Turkey/Venison. 30% protein, $20.00.
Grabbed a 30' cable lead for his trolley. His previous, on the back deck has been 20'. He can now go down the back steps about 10' into the rear area. A new area for him. He is way happy.
Cashier made the comment, "You must really love your dog." Told her "Yes, I do. Best dog ever."
About $100 worth of dog stuff. He is making out like a Bandit.
Had a big pile in both hands, stuff in my mouth, etc. Holding on for dear life, headed for a cashier. Stuff piled on top of my pile, balanced. They were laughing at me when I got to the register.
Me, ................................. I got toilet paper, 2 3packs of toothbrushes, some sleep stuff (Dyphenydramine.)

You may want to check into those Pig ears. They just had ANOTHER recall on them. 0 -
My local Farm store, let me know when I was last in there about a week ago, buying about 20 at $1.49 each, that they were discontinued, due to Salmonella issues. Never had a problem with them. (American made.) My dogs favorite treat.
I bought about 3/4 of what they had left. Once I found out they were cancelled.
These new Pig Ear Slices, about 1/4 of a pigs ear, are also American made. Two 16oz bags.
Never had a problem with them.
For those with "Aggressive Chewers," the Spunky Pup brand, is about the best I have found/tried. Highly recommend them. I've now got a big stockpile of toys for Buddy. We enjoy throwing/fetching every evening when I get home. He absolutely Loves it. Gets mega exercise each evening. Happy dog. You can tell he is smiling/loving it.0 -

I have a 6 ounce heavy optically clear plastic bottle with a screw on lid that has a carabiner d-ring attached to it and the middle is wrapped in blue paracord...
I have my benchmade folder and a pair of EMT shears and a victornox pairing knife laid out along with a small endgrain fire treated bamboo laminate cutting board on my oversized overbuilt heavy duty simple country coffee table...
There are 3 other small portable child proof travel treat containers - one for each of the girls and one that hangs from a hook at the front door...
I have several spicy two foot slim Jim's and some cranberry buffalo jerky and some long strips of javalina jerky that was soaked in lawrys teryakai marinade and some dehydrated slices of pineapple and tangerine...
I am cutting them into small treat sized pieces and dividing them up evenly amongst the treat receptacles...
The dog and ferret and hedgehog all are sitting at attention observing me handle and sort and size the pet equivalent of an 8 ball or a yard of heroin...
Patient and still like Egyptian statues - noble regal companions...
As long as I have the good stuff I have their loyalty and rapt attention.
Drool will appear soon.

My dog loves the cod skin treats, but holy crap do they stink... I gave her two of them one time then told her to go and give the wife a big old kiss.. a week later I was back in the bed.. 0 -
Busted out a couple new toys when I got home. Throw and fetch/chew.
Happy Dog.
(Plus) I have a plethora of new ones, and some new (old) favorites to bust out periodically.
Worth every penny.

You should see them when I slip in some dehydrated slices of lemons or limes..
They like the flavor but always make weird surprised sour faces before continuing to eat them...
And with the dehydrated fruit especially citrus they don't just scarf down or inhale the treats they will gum them and get the full flavor before finishing them off...
The tangerines and mandarin oranges and clementines and halos and tangelos are always a hit...
Crunchy apple slices from the dehydrator are always a hit as are pear and persimmon.
They all get flavored ice cubes - pet friendly freezer pops - and that's always a home run.
Limeade or cherry or raspberry and blackberry flavor ice cubes.
Frozen mini carrots or carrot chunks from the freezer seem to be beloved.
Peanut butter is the eternal standard.
Kong toys for everyone.

You can get lemons and limes and hybrids in every color of the rainbow now - it's eerily sci fi movie cgi effect illusion like visual arts centered oddity.

One of the best, is a multi faceted ball, (unknown bounce direction,) wrapped in Kong like rubber, but with colored/diamond textured hard nylon rounded panels of green, red, orange, blue that lighted strobes when thrown or moved/chewed. It has proven a huge hit, when thrown down the long 20' dark hallway to the front door, from the couch - I do not want to strain myself. (By Multipet, Ruff Enuff.) Gonna be a great toy, when the Sun goes down/is dark inside.

With the new 30' rear deck dog trolley lead, and the cool weather, we can have the rear door open. (No mosquitos,) It leads out to the rear wrap around deck, at the back of the house.
He can roam the entire rear deck, go down the rear steps about 10' (New territory to him,) and come back inside and roam, eat food, and lounge around, lay on his favorite recliner.
It is nice seeing him so comfortable.
It is nice, he can go inside, or outside on his whim.
Winter/fall is coming on. It will not last long.
I should be out with the chainsaw, just now cutting up cured logs, for winter.
Splitting from there on out. Love a fire in the large Fisher, Grandpa model (double door) woodstove.0
