I Should Have Listened
Im renting the house that i grew up in that i paid half of the value. Mom left the house to my sister and i so i owed my sister 50% of the house value.
My Mom is still alive but she is unable to live by herself anymore so she stays mostly with my sister and her husband.
Anyhow i rented the house to a friend and the water and electric bill is in my name because i did some repairs before my friend moved in and took everything out of my mothers name. Instead of changing things to my friends name i just told him to pay me what the bills are and that would save him from paying a deposit for the utility bills.
Now he owes me the light bill for August. Rent for September, water and lights for September.
Plus i let him borrow 1000 dollars in June when he had a bad emergency.
He has 4 kids and a wife but i told him he had to give me at a minimum of 1000 by the end of the month or he had to go.
I have known him for over 15 years when he used to work for me. He had a very hard upbringing because his Mom gave him to his grandparents and his Dad split before he was born.
I hate to evict him and his kids because his kids think of me as a grandparent but i cant afford his bills and mine because im not working because of health issues.
Its hard but i need to look out for my family also.
How late would you let a renter go with late bills?

One month then start proceedings if needed. My brother has been doing this for a living for 40 years. You don't have feelings in this fight or you can just pay the bills. he learned that quickly, first thing.0 -
evictions vary state to state, make sure you follow the procedure to the letter. the $1000 loan can't be used on the eviction process. i hope you have paperwork proving it was a loans, otherwise it can be construed as a gift in civil court. 0 -
You should have listened! ..................................................... 0 -
Try to get your money and sell the property, split however the lawyers think right. Walk away and enjoy whatever time you have left on Gods green and rusty earth. 0
