09/11/2001 WHERE WERE YOU AT AND WHAT WERE YOU DOING ???

ST.CROIX.. U.S.V.I ... TUESDAY MORN. 0855 HRS. WORKING AT THE HESS OIL REFINERY....(https://www.constructionboxscore.com/project-news/st-croix-refinery-to-reopen-under-new-ownership.aspx) FOR THE ONLY INSIDE THE FENCE SUBCONTRACTOR, AS A MEMBER OF THE HSE DEPT.,

THAT MORNING I WAS TAKING NEW HIRE URINE SAMPLES AND PRESENT EMPLOYEES RANDOM URINE SPECIMENS FOR ON-SITE PRELIMINARY DRUG TESTING..CONFIRMATION / FINAL TESTS COMPLETED AT AN OFF-SITE BUT ON ISLAND TESTING LAB.....

I WALKED INTO THE H.R. MGR'S OFFICE WITH TWO (2) DRUG TESTING PLASTIC CUP CONTAINERS, HALF FULL OF WARM WIZZ IN MY HANDS.. BOTH URINE TEST PRELIMINARY SAMPLES SHOWED A POSITIVE SCREENING RESULT FOR ILLEGAL DRUG USE...OUR COMPANY H.R. MGR. HAD A LOOK ON HIS FACE , I'LL NEVER FORGET..

I TOLD HIM " WE MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THESE TWO (2) SAMPLES " HE LOOKS ME STRAIGHT IN THE EYES AND ASKS ME.... " YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING, DO YOU " ??? I TOLD HIM "NO" " I'VE BEEN PLAYING WITH PEOPLE'S WIZZ, SINCE 0800 HRS THIS AM "....

HE NEVER SAID A WORD AND JUST TURNED ON THE T.V. SET IN HIS OFFICE AND I SAW WHAT HAD HAPPENED IN N.Y.C., JUST A FEW MINS. AGO.... AND I STAYED AROUND LONG ENOUGH IN HIS OFFICE TO SEE THE SECOND PLANE HIT THE OTHER TOWER....WOW .. JUST WOW ....THE REST OF THE DAY... IT WAS PRETTY QUITE THERE........

    I was in Oregon, sitting in my easy chair, drinking my morning coffee celebrating by 54th birthday.. neighbor called and said ?turn on the news. The schidt just hit the fan?. Spent the rest of the day glued to the tube.😭😭😭
    I will be 72 tomorrow.

    Got in my truck to head for school. The radio was playing live feed from New York instead of the local comedy guys. It was at least 30 minutes of that before the local DJ came on and explained what I had been listening to.

    Got to school and pretty much everyone was glued to TV sets. In philosophy class the instructor said we could skip the lesson plan to discuss what was going on. I excused myself to attend something else. Two days later he put it to a vote that we could skip the lesson plan again. Most of the kids were just taking the course for distribution and wanted to talk about the attack.

    My contribution was "If we could figure out how to use radioactive crude oil we could solve this pretty quick." That didn't go over with ivory tower crowd at all.

    Missing those two days of class caused us to miss out on a whole section of the course. I felt like we let the terrorists win in that class room.

    We?d just landed at Frankfort airport in Germany. Didn?t know anything was going on till we got to the hotel and saw everyone around the TV. Then went to our destination site and watched the last plane hit. Stuck in DE for a couple of weeks.

    At work, in a state run mental hospital . The morning news was on do my clients could keep up with the outside world . Programming was canceled for the rest of the day

    I got a call & turned on the TV. I then called HQ to see what we were doing & was told that the scene was too congested & we were to stand-by. So I went to an overlook, maybe 15 miles from ground zero. People were just standing there in silence. It was very frustrating not being able to do anything.

    Prudhoe Bay, North Slope of Alaska.
    Doyon Rig 14, S-Pad in the WOA of the Prudhoe bay unit in for BP with a well control situation.

    News of the event was communicated from camp to rig.
    Didn?t get to see replays of the event until 6 or 8 hours after the event.

    Wife in Idaho watched the 2nd plane impact live on TV. She was still tearing up when I finally got through to her on the phone.

    I was on the Slope for a couple more weeks so the flight stoppage didn?t effect me, but several of my guys rode buses down the haul road ( Dalton Hwy) to Fairbanks and onto Anchorage and some of them were stranded there until flights outside to the Lower 48 resumed.

    Like most others, I was working (in the Cleveland, OH area). Flight 93 was in Oberlin's airspace when it headed back towards the east coast. Thanks to the bravery of passengers on that plane, it never made it's intended destination. I live close enough to the airport that when the flight ban went into affect the lack of aircraft in the sky was very eery. Only the occasional military craft would pass by and that only made things worse. Never forget.

    Summerville Medical Center, CEO called me to Admin stat, saw second plane hit on TV, he asked about the possibility of being an accident. I said one maybe two no way.

    Spent the rest of the day trying to convince CEO we didn't need to write a disaster plan specific to a plane being crashed into the hospital.

    Got to work early in charge for the weekend. Turned on GB and one of the posters in NYC had posted photos of a huge column of smoke. Turned on TV and like everyone else watched in horror. Three years later on the same date, my father died.

    i was working on a 4+inch stainless steel shaft for the Tenn Valley Authority lock and dam pumps on a big lathe. that morning had 3 areas to thread, measuring over wires.. totally focused in on that task. was told about the 1st crash, and i just thought it was like the B-25 that hit theEmpire State Building in the 40s. never realised we were being attacked until the 2 one hit. and then the Pentagon and flight 93..the company saw how wrecked everyone was emotionally and sent us al home [with pay] for the afternoon. the strangest time were the following NO FLY days seeing empty skies devoid of everything..

    We lived in western Ohio in a small city at that time. I still had my camera business and was repairing a camera when my wife called from work crying while trying to tell me to turn on the TV. I spent most of the afternoon watching the drama unfold, getting more pissed as I watched. :twisted: :twisted:

    We had just bought our 23 acre property in June and I would go up anytime I had caught up with camera repairs and use my tractor to level up areas and build 2 driveways. Our property is at a crossroads of 2 flight paths. As I was running the tractor I kept glancing up at the sky and the absence of any air traffic. That was very eerie as there is almost constant contrails around here in the sky.

    I managed one of the largest Outdoor Adventure Equipment Company's in the Country. (Campmor, in Paramus NJ.) We were letting our first employee of the morning in the front door, at 8:45am. He blurted out that "A plane had just hit one of the World Trade Center Towers." We went out on the front lawn, adjacent to Route 17 and could clearly see the Tower on fire. (About 1- 1 1/2" tall.)

    Went back inside and turned on the TV. Watched the second plane hit. Went back outside, you could clearly see both Towers on fire. Back inside. (All glued to the TV.) When we saw the two Towers go down, we immediatly went back outside again. Watching the dust cloud, and the lack of the two Towers.

    Our Company went nuts, funneling tractor trailer load after tractor trailer load of Emergency Supplies in to Ground Zero. Apprx. 1/3 of our Employees left to go donate blood, that day.

    About 3 days later, I started being requested by name, to Outfit multiple Teams headed over there. (?) I first questioned how they knew about me, but was told "You have singly outfitted some of our Guys in the past, without knowing it, they said You, were our Guy." I was beyond extremely Proud to assist and apply my expertise to getting these Guys the best equipment possible, for what they were about to undertake.

    In the chemical plant office at Aerojet Propulsion outside Sacramento. We immediately put the TV on and watched the second tower get hit.
    As a defense contractor, the plant went into high alert and no one got past security for hours. I remember the plant fire department outside the gates taking donations in their rubber boots to send to the NYCFD

    happened to flip tv on that morn and caught it and stayed there till later afternoon......why we don't quit diddling around with these primitives and
    letting them pick us off instead of wiping their azzes off the earth in big chunks is beyond me

    Short Version :::

    We had moved back to TN a few months earlier :

    My wife ( now ex ) and her daughter was out riding around , just seeing things and trying to figure out where things was located ?

    Didnt even have the radio on : Just enjoying the day !!!

    Stopped @ a local BBQ place for lunch , got our food & set down , They had a T.V. on in the dining room :

    I got sick & couldnt even finish my meal !

    Left there & went to the Marine recruiters : ( Wife got Mad ) : Of of course they turned me down ???

    Will never forget that !

    I was in an F-18 squadron in Lemoore California. A small det of us were supposed to head to Fallon Nevada on the 12th. My roommate was from NYC and the phone rang after the first plane hit.

    Next phone call was the squadron- ?get your a$$ to Fallon- Lemoore is locked down?.

    Birds were flying CAPs over Southern CA, every ship went to sea and it was hitting the fan.

    Get to Fallon & wait for enough of us to show- load up a C2 Grayhound and fly out to the Stennis. I dont recall if it was 7 or 10 days but this was known as Operation Noble Eagle & it is on my DD214.

    The John C Stennis battle group pulled into San Diego for 2 or 3 days & then we steamed for Afghanistan. We met the USS George Washington battle group from the East coast & after a few day of eery quiet The USS John C Stennis raised one of the torn and burned American Flags from one of the twin towers & hit back.

    I was on the phone on hold with USAA insurance and they were playing the NEWS instead of music. I heard the reprot of the first plane so I got my room mate to turn on NEWS and 30 seconds later we saw the second plane hit LIVE on TV....It was like it happened yesterday.

    and thoughts and prayers to all we lost and ones were still loosing from th efall out of thet terrible day

    as for me I was working 3rd shiftat that time at a local car factory I had been in bed a couple hours when my wife woke me up told me what just happened and to watch the TV needless to say I did not sleep thet day
