I had a 4 zone system that used cheap quality valves. That's why I always kept a spare. Up & running in 15 minutes. This reminds me that I have to order spare capacitors for my heat pumps. Better then getting screwed with the service call & absorbent parts price.

You might want to check the capacitors in the box to make sure the numbers match what's on the box. I had an extra one for our A/C unit and when I went to replace a bad one last week somebody had put the wrong capacitor in the box. I had it in the cabinet for a couple of years so I couldn't return it. Not really a big deal about the money since it was only $25 bucks but it was inconvenient since I had to wait until the next morning when the parts store opened to go get another one which meant spending an uncomfortable night in the heat.

My neighbor was recently charged $140 for the capacitor plus $120 for the service call. Sure they have to make money but marking the price for the part up by over 500% is outright robbery.

I had a three zone system and kept extra valves and valve rebuild kits ready. In thirty years that was the only main problem I had with the system. I did replace the pump once.

Living in the country, miles from a hardware store I've always kept caps, plugs of all sizes, toilet parts and faucet replacement parts on hand. I learned that lesson early. I once worked a double shift, got home at one a.m. and was in my shorts taking a pee when I noticed the toilet was continuing to run. I reached down thinking I could fix it and it broke off in my hand. I had to go back to work at eight a.m. I have kept parts ever since.
