Yeah, this is where I was planning on going this weekend, we drive through there a few weeks ago scouting and all we say was a few moose. Was riding the 4 wheeler about 10 miles from there scouting for elk not long after.

This is the third griz attack near us since we have lived here, one of which happened pretty much across from the house. As you are coming up 287 the little town of Cameron just a few miles south of us, if you look to the east toward Bear Creek 2 PA hunters were attacked right there. Then the fella from Ennis who posted the video right afterwords, his attack was in the same area. And now this, them bears are making themselves known.

I have a feeling the bear(s) responsible for this attack are doomed, from the sounds of it they are being hunted by the state.

I still want to go up there, just a little nervous now!

A few months ago I had some extra $$ and went looking for a hand held Howitzer just for this occaision. Couldn?t find one and wound up buying a DPMS Panther in .308. Still want a S&W 500 but they are hard to find locally.

Can you cite a legal document that shows it is illegal to carry a handgun during archery season? Almost everyone I know carries a handgun along with bear spray.

I?ll be leaving this evening to go up there, bear spray and a handgun is going with me along with a sluggun that will stay in the camper

Archery season is tough here in the South too..................The skitters will eat you alive!

I remember my 1st time bow hunting in LA, I thought being in a tree stand I would be OK but the skitters came at me in swarms. I think I would rather fight a bear with a Bowie knife than all those skitters

Be careful and good luck BSR, that is a nice looking old school rig you have there. What motor and trany set up is in that 90's Ford? I had a 94 with a 5.0 and 5 speed I wish I still had it. Great truck and the only one I ever bought brand new. I ordered it from AFEES in Panama, it was the first new vehicle I had ever owned hell it was the 1st vehicle I ever had with less than 80K on the clock and it was the 1st vehicle I ever had with AC!

Archery season in PA is the same way, ya get eaten alive by insects.

That?s the $300 pickup I mentioned in another thread. Just installed a set of 3/4 ton 4+1 springs to haul the camper and 4 wheeler. No load she rides a little rough now, ya feel every bump in the road! Just a basic 5.0 with an automatic. I did put on a heavy duty trans cooler, we shall see if we cook it heading up to 9000?!

    Those Ford 5.0's run forever.

It would be better with a stick but with a good trans cooler it should be fine.

I like the duel tanks they had then.

Have fun, I am sure you brought your tool box :D I have one for every vehicles with a few spares, like belts, plugs, maybe a rebuilt alt and plenty of fluids...........thats how you roll with old stuff.
