Remington 700 25-06

I stopped by the pawn shop today and they have a Remington 700 25-06 with a Redfield scope for 300.

I could probably talk them down to 250 dollars is that a good deal?

What would the gun be good for. I know nothing about a 25-06. I have most of the hunting calibers. 243, 270, 30-30, 30-06, and 303.

Good or bad deal.

The s/n is 6404174.

    I am guessing it has the blind box magazine? Wood stock.? Or is it a BDL with bottom mag release.? IF it is a BDL ,run don't walk and go get it.

    If it?s pre Cerberus Remington then buy it. If it?s post Cerberus (basically anything from the mid 2000?s on up to now then pass. The .25-06 can be used for everything from varmints to deer and with the right bullet Elk. It?s flat shooting and mild recoil. It?s downside is ammo isn?t as cheap as say .270 or .308. I had Ruger 77 years ago in that caliber and was a good rifle.

    What Ruger said. But it won't do anything what you already have won't do. Great all around cartridge up to elk sized critters. Probably a good buy if you need it, or just want a 25-06.

    Buy it. I have a 700 long range quarter bore. Shoots flatter than a 06/.308/ or a .270 . Measure the barrel and make sure no one has cut it and look at the throat in the chamber. They are rougher on throats than any of the above because of velocity. My 26" whistles the Hornandy superperformance at around 3400 fps. Recoil is very light. You might also see if the recall for the trigger has been done on the early models.

    The stock is wood. I do not remember if its a BDL or not. All i remember is it has a jeweled bolt. LOL

    Sounds like a good deal. I had a Ruger No. 1-V in .25-06 that I called AT&T, because you could reach out and touch someone with it.

    If I found one like that for a price like you mentioned, I'd be tempted to take it home with me.
