    Amazing - a way to honor the weapons and soldiers of an earlier war rather than simply scrapping them...

    Much American history was lost during the scrap drives associated with the war effort.

    There were similar monuments on bannermans island castle but nothing this elaborate.

    Frankford arsenal had some displays on the property and inside some of the building at one time but they are gone - I remember shot towers in Philadelphia when I was a kid but I suspect they are also gone.

    Swords beaten into plowshares indeed.

    Perhaps once upon a time soligen and Liege had something on a smaller scale...

    Many museums and places on the historic registry receive no respect or support.

    Use to visit there alot as a kid biggest memory is the tram with the eagle on the front and the stables

    Have been to Bannermans Island Castle many times.

    We would put our kayaks in at West Point and paddle the Hudson to it, have lunch/explore and head back. Fascinating place, as is the history behind it.

    Never been there at night, but rumor has it various Covens hang out there and do their thing. I know there is quite a bit of Satanic graffiti and symbolism, rock pentagrams etc. on the Island.

    Long ago and far away I dated one of the Busch daughters. I never noticed that fence. Mostly I was intimidated by the security guys.
