    That track is tensioned by a slide that connects the front 'idler' wheel and the rear drive wheel. It is extended by grease. In the 'shop' the grease is driven by a pneumatic grease gun. In the field? A hand powered grease gun is used. BTDT!

    The fella that lived on the other side of the road from our farm had a excavation business. He'd blown a track on one of his 'dozers and his son and I were 'hired' to provide the power to 'gun'. We were young and dumb @ age 14. I earned a whole $10.oo for 4 hours work. Good money for unskilled labor in 1970.

    Third world problems require third world solutions.. That whole undercarriage is shot! If the missing track pads don't give it away the non existent teeth on the drive sprocket should.

    Yep, when the loggers around here get them that shot, they just take a link out of them.........

    dayum right $2.50/hr was huge in 1970..gas was $0.25 a galllon, a case of budweiser $5 or less. a pack of swisher sweet seeeegars was a $1.00....you was sh*ting in tall clover

    Spotted the drive wheel right off the bat.

    Still some mad skills.

    I'd bet that track (or those tracks) come off fairly often, based on the lack of sprocket integration.

    Still very impressive.
