Dire Straights -
"Money for Nothing."
WTH happened to them.
One of the best songs EVER.
Probably be like me.
Make a sheeitload of $$, disappear. That would be my game plan.
They probably own an Island somewhere.

The true sultan of swing - money for nothing with Gordan Sumner of the police was an MTV phenomena and while an okay song is not reflective of his music and talent overall...

This is Mark Knofpler teaming up with Eric Clapton on a classic, "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith.
This is one of my favorite songs.
For the first half of the video, the camera zooms in on Clapton during the guitar solos.
It took them a few minutes to realize that it was Mark Knopfler who was playing the great solos. What a great guitarist.

I first hear "Brothers in Arms" as background for a "Miami Vice" TV episode decades ago and was hooked. 0 -
It is amazing that we can think of a song and almost instantly find it somewhere online. When I was a kid we saved and bought the occasional album and hoped our friends bought something we didn't. Endless hours listening to the radio to hear what we wanted in between commercials and songs we didn't like. Now push a couple of buttons and presto and pretty much any music you desire is available. I can think of a song and search for it on youtube but then see all of the recommendations and have to listen to a dozen others. 50 years of classic Rock there for the taking. I shudder to think what will be classics for the current generation 50 years from now. I think I feel a case of Toto coming on. Maybe Africa or Roseanna. Bob 0 -
I took advantage of both Africa and Rosanna from Toto this week at Bethesda - had them on my 80's physical therapy play list (hold the line)...
Toto IV - 1982 LP is an amazing desert island zombie apocalypse bug out bag top 10 disc
Africa may be the most lampooned cover song of all time - you will find at least 100 versions by weird Al and weezer and Elmo...

Crap! I got sidetracked. Now I've got to stay up and listen to Hot August Night. Neil Diamond double album from 1972. When you write lyrics like - You'd almost bet you can hear yourself sweat- your a helluva lyricist and song writer.
