Electrical ?????
Got a new ceiling fan in the living room. It has a pull chain to control fan speed, 3 speed.
I want to put a 3 speed fan control switch in the wall in place of the toggle.
What position does the pull chain on the fan itself need to be in? I'm thinking it needs to be set and left on high to allow full range of the wall switch. I.E. if fan was on medium, or low setting, that would limit the wall switch to that setting also. Right? If not, please explain. Thank you.

Joe, the wall mounted speed controls I?ve installed caused an unacceptable loud hum from the motor at low speed. 0 -
The old fan did that. They had a regular lighting dimmer wired to the fan motor. Not rated as a speed control. Also the new controls have a resistor(?) in it to eliminate radio/t.v. and motor hum. 0 -
Fan on high. Be absolutely sure the wall switch control is rated made for the ceiling fan. 0 -
