Talking peace with the Taliban

will never be fruitful.

It takes TWO sides for a war and it will not end until BOTH SIDES desire peace.

With the radical islamic, that will not happen until their will to fight has been destroyed. :!:

    Obviously I'm no diplomat, but I fail to see how one can negotiate with ANY group who follows an ideology (It's certainly not a religion.) that mandates the killing of anyone/anything that doesn't buy in to their BS. That doesn't leave much leeway other than to respond in kind.

    Why bother? Talking has worked so well with places like Iran you would think we would learn. When your stated goal is to kill all infidels it doesn't leave much room for negotiation. They are like cockroaches. For every one you kill or make peace with there are 10 more in the woodwork. They have been fighting each other for 1000s of years and nothing we can do will change anything. Bob

    The Taliban is not a sovereign entity (a nation). They are a network of tribal terrorists. To initiate a diplomatic peace conference with them is to acknowledge their legitimacy and it is absurd. To sponsor it at a white house retreat is embarassing.

    We were friends with them when they were fighting the Soviet Union. That got us Osama Bin Laden. Then we weren?t friends anymore after 9/11. We don?t need them as friends. We?ve put too many of our people through that meat grinder for way too long. The amount of lost souls and money is ridiculous. Bring all our people home and warn them if one more American dies because of them then their country is nuked period. We lost a friend there. 21 years old and for what? Nuke it and be done with it.

    Totally 100% agree.

    When I heard on the radio this am, that they had been invited to Camp David - I was stunned. I am sure they would revel in the legitimacy it would entail/bestow upon them.

    I agree with this, as well.

    Get our people out of there. We do not need to have the "Best of our Best," walking around with asinine "Rules of Engagement." In the cross hairs and subject to IED's, ad infinitum.

    Get in big and get it done, or get out.

    I agree with the "Warn them, that one more large scale terrorist act on our soil, will result in the absolute destruction of their Country." (And) Then follow up on it. MOAB this.

    Not really They were not founded until 1994. The guys in the Northern Alliance were our allies against the CCCP.
    The Taliban is really an extension of the Pakistani ISI. They turned into what they are today and there is no doubt the US helped them but not as much as is thought.

    He was. He also fought with the CCCP against the Muj.
    Then he was part of the NA fighting the Taliban.

    He is an Uzbeck I believe. He was good friends with Ahmad Shah Massoud who the taliban and OBL assassinated 2 days before 9/11

    Massoud was known as the Lion of the Panjshir he hated the Taliban and the Commies


    What is kind of funny is these guys have all fought each other at one time or another.
