Family Fishing Trip Northern MN - What guns to bring?

Leaving for a Family Fishing Trip in Northern MN (Rainy Lake) in a couple weeks.
Couple problems - no hunting in the National Park that surrounds the lake.
Plus MN doesn't recognize MO's CCW.

Have to go cased and unloaded once inside MN. Thinking maybe bring a safepacker?

I'm planning to bring my new to me Ruger Redhawk in 45 Colt + my Ruger LC9S.

My Nephew In-Law has a MI CCW which I believe is recognized by MN. Maybe I can get him to carry 2 guns.
Or go with the old "Concealed is Concealed."

Debating on bringing a shotgun.

Thoughts?

    I have spent a lot of time up there, 50 miles to the east in Quetico Park, Ontario. Beautiful country, very wild.
    On the one hand y'all are smart to go in late September, no mosquitos and even better, no GD black flies!
    On the other hand, one of my trips, we got out of the woods on September 9 and on September 10 it snowed 9 inches. However, the weather in September usually is good.
    You will soon discover, you ain't in Missouri any more.

    No guns allowed in Quetico Park so I can't give you advice on that, on one trip [I went up there 8 times, from Georgia] my buddy wanted to take a shotgun, I could just see Bud poaching a Canada goose, and us getting arrested by the Mounties. So never took a gun along. We did see a lot of moose, heard a lot of wolves, also it is fantastic to hear those loons crying out in the wilderness.
    I never saw a bear up there but did see a lot of bear crap.

    Also, fishing in the Quetico is great, all kinds of smallmouth and walleye, and pike.

    I haven't seen snow in awhile. Weather forecast is 60's for the high 40's for the low. I bringing long underwear.
    The plan is to stay on the US side of the lake.

    Take a few extra daredevils and leave your gun home. Thats pretty close to Gods Country.

    JimmyJack is right on. Along with some sweatshirts. Nights at this time of the year may get a bit chilly.

    Have a 14 hour drive between here and there. I'll have to stop for gas multiple times. Last I looked Gas Stations get robbed all the time. Are you really suggesting leaving guns at home?

    Sounds like a good reason to buy a "Shockwave" and a back of the shoulder scabbard. Load it with couple of "00" then slugs.

    I carry a 360PD in such situations. 357 magnum - plenty of power, small & light - hide anywhere, fishing vest, hat, day planner, camera bag, ankle, etc.

    Hmm I do have a stainless Ruger Security Six 357 mag w/ 2 & 3/4inch barrel that might work perfectly.

    My goto fishing gun is a ruger SP101 3" 357. Second in the rotation would be a a 4" 629 MTN revolver.

    For back up a pump 12ga shotgun or a leveraction rifle in 30 wcf would be my choice.

    Folks camping here in MN generally don't even consider the subject of self-protection (at least with wildlife). Bring a shotgun if it makes you feel better, shouldn't be any issues with that. One of my hunting partners on our place in E. Central MN is not having any luck getting bears to come to the bait station, even though there's no shortage of them around. He did see a cougar the other day, which is extremely rare here.
