    Chicago is dealing with a sub-culture that has been allowed to exist and grow for 40+ years.

    Someone politically aligned as is the current mayor cannot address the issue directly in words or in action, so it lashes out at the political opposition.

    Yes, if the entire country banned handguns, there would be fewer available to be used by this sub-culture.

    The suggestion, however, that the rest of the country has to give up its freedoms because a few communities have eschewed civilization would be laughable if there was not such widespread support for it.

    This mayor is a joke, and is a continuation of a long line of jokes that have held the office.

    She is a product of social pressure brought upon her by the society in which she immersed herself. That society is moving to the position that the gang member in Chicago who pulls the trigger is as much of a victim as are the people he shoots.
