so many others?? How many people did we loose when the forums were changed?? How can we get some of these people back?? Are those of us still here just a bunch of old farts??

doc and oakie had health issues, BSR is having health and truck issues, they all stop by everynow and then but not very often, think they have found there is life on the outside...... 0 -
Average median age here is now probably 70. Unless some new and hot woman come here it will die a slow, painless demise.

The new format has hurt us. It is not as user friendly, not as lively.
Also Captain Fun damaged the forum, he kicked off a lot of good members, such as Earl. I know Earl was a little nutty but he was full of life.
Captain Fun kicked me off the forum for some arcane reason, I think his college age daughters were reading the forum, and telling him who he should get mad at. I thought I was gone for good but, after 6 months, he let me back on.
I think our days are numbered because of the change of values of generations. The Lib media is bending over backwards to vilify guns and they are succeeding. Most young people dislike guns. My girlfriend's grandson is 16, he has never fired a gun. His mother does not allow guns in the house. The 13 year old grand daughter is terrified of guns, just scared to death of them.
Hunting, across America, is taking a nose dive, not nearly as many hunters as we had 30 years ago. It is tied in to old timey stuff like houses. I build log houses that look like they were built in 1819.
Well built and cool in summer and snug and warm in winter.
People of my generation love my houses.
But I have had several millennials over in the past year and they have nothing good to say about the log cabin. I guess they view me as an environmental criminal for whacking so many trees. These twenty somethings like tiny houses, one couple lives in a school bus.
The important thing to them is to have a small "carbon footprint."
Also, my girlfriend's friend has a huge antique mall here in Asheville NC. Business is down in the past 5 years. It seems the millennials dislike antiques! Now that is weird, I can remember being 8 years old, my Mom dragging me to some antique store in Atlanta, my Mom and the other housewives loved to go antique shopping.
No, the millennials see a 200 year old chestnut table, made in England, they call it "brown furniture." They like stainless steel and Plexiglass stuff.0 -

Rumor has it that Doc was some where out in the Nevada desert with his new Dodge Challenger R/T running from the law. They say he checks in with a blind black radio dis-jockey named Super Soul on station KOW from time to time. They say the police are sitting up a road block with 2 bulldozers in the middle of the road in the small town of Cisco, CA where they think he may be headed. Of course that's just rumor. I?m only 50 and I hate the new format. It?s one of the worst upgrades to a forum I?ve seen. Definitely not user friendly. We?ve had TONS of great members run off. Some have returned. Hunting culture is definitely a dying thing in many places. 0 -

When I was a kid my dad had me build a gun rack, when I was 14, we had shotguns, a .303, a Sears JC Higgins .22 all on that rack, just on the wall of the living room hanging on pegs, no lock. And we all knew, the ammo was upstairs in dad's top left dresser drawer, where he also had a .45 Smith and Wesson revolver.
This was typical of my friends in high school, in 1965, everybody had guns around the house. Everybody's dad was a WW2 vet and we were all used to having guns around. When I built that rack, I had an 8 year old sister, and a 6 year old little brother. Didn't bother them a bit.
No school shootings either. And this was not the wilds of Wyoming, this was suburban Atlanta where it was illegal to hunt, or even to discharge a firearm.
And one day I slung the .303 over my shoulder and rode in to school on the school bus, DeKalb County school, nobody said a thing.
Walked down the hall of Cross Keys High School with that rifle slung over my shoulder, not a remark from a teacher. My History teacher wanted to do a display with a military gun.
And so today, my girlfriend's daughter lives in DeKalb County, the grand daughter is 13 years old, and until two years ago she had never seen a real gun.
And they were up here visiting one sunny day, we had a local mountain guy scraping the driveway with a 4WD tractor, he stopped by for some ice water, and they somehow got to talking about guns, and Don pulled a .44 mag out of the bib, of his bib overalls. Just to show the folks, perfectly normal up here in the mountains.
And the little grand daughter saw that gun, and she let out a shriek, and ran inside the house crying. First time she had ever seen a real gun.
Times have changed, boys.
And just think, a generation that is brainwashed about how evil guns are, has zero appreciation for the Second Amendment.
Give it 30 years and you can kiss that baby goodbye.

we were allowed to bring long guns to school when I was in high school during hunting season as long as they were unloaded and cased.
take them to the principle's office and get them when school ended0 -

if you are talking about the way the forum looks, there are dozens of themes they can install to make it look completely different. you log in to the forum, go to your user control panel, the "Board Preferences" tab, and under "Edit global settings" you can choose which theme you want.
but that seems to have been disabled because it's not there.
out of all the old houses I used to work on, every one built in the 50's had a den with a gun rack built into the wall.0 -
i agree I miss a lot of the posters some I do not recall all there name's ( getting old myself ) so do not want to name a few and miss a lot more , its a loss for all of us there knowledge on so many different topics and repairs and input even if just a BS story kept the forums going
also as most all gun owners will fade into the past just like a buggy whip
the left,anti gun hoards the liberal media and schools have preached guns are the root of all eval, get rid of guns and the US will live in perfect harmony rainbows and unicorns all hate prejudiced and crime will just drop to zero the day the last gun and gun owner are dead
sad they have convinced so many of there ideology
they ignore any crime that does not involve a gun and also ignore any time a gun has saved some one or many from a terrible event0 -
Forum changed, as did the conversations...there is very little discussion these days about guns...everything in life seems dominated by politics...everything...Trump talks to the media everyday...believe it or not there was a time in this country when we didn't hear from the president unless there was a major world event, catastrophe or short political campaign, now it's a perpetual campaign. 0 -

Got to disagree with those complaining about the format of the new forums. These are more user-friendly with more features. Just need to accept change. 0 -
