Now if you'll get a camo outfit and a headband like Rambo's you'll be ready to go to work in a gun shop.

    Sorry, I Work for a living. :o :? :D:lol:

I especially like/appreciate the Yiddish (?) writing on each tag that I can not comprehend.

The socks are Very nice though. Far better than what I was issued, and far better than the U S Surplus socks I have ordered in the past. I have about 24 of supposedly the most current socks our troops are issued. (I have been using them for Work socks for the last 6 months.) While better than what I was issued, they do not compare to what I am looking at/trying on just now. Good stuff.

We have to wear leather steel toe/composite toe boots at work, (on the Production floor.) Get caught without them? Get sent home & a Safety write up. 3 Safety write ups & you are gone.

Yeah Shilo, these Rough out sage Dauntless boots are pretty sharp. Price was right, through Sportsmansguide. ($62)

Anxious to give them a try over my heavy steel toe Wolverines.

I used to wear Red Wing steel toed shoes that look like basketball high tops. I really liked them and they lasted for years worn daily. They would have likely lasted longer but I worked around pallets so was always hitting the tips of the shoes on them and wore the leather away and after it opened up more than just over the steel area I had to replace it. I never have found shoes since then that were as comfortable. I have been wanting to get a ~8" pair of boots for around the house. I keep wearing old shoes and they never last long plus don't give any ankle support.

On a semi-related side note, I have always hated the word tactical for describing things much in the way I hate the term assault rifles. Both of those terms are verbs to me, not nouns.

You mean an overpriced forum/venue, where the same old stuff is shown at inflated prices, while you pay for parking and "entrance fees?"

    Pass.

Our local Army Navy store (had a British challenger tank and a 3 inch naval gun mount and a torpedo in the parking lot) was having a going out of business sale - the owner was retiring to Florida - he was in town when we moved here in 1976...

His sale seemingly lasted several months - and I went in towards the end - lots of empty shelves and space...

He was certified stocking Red Wing dealer and I needed compliant safety footwear for work and was making good money and had always wanted Redwings (I was going to get reimbursed)

While it seems like a ridiculous affectation and and an extreme indulgence I bought 3 pair of top of the line cream of the crop all options boots and paid approx $114.00 a pair.

List price pre markdown and closeout and buy 3 and save discounts was approx. $290.00 a pair (I still have trouble admitting that despite having worked for it and earned it and deserves it)

One pair is daily use - one light use - and one virtually never used.

They are very nice top quality boots - and the shop owner said the north American production was vastly superior to the Chinese imports - and I think I agree.

They threw in a bunch of leather care products and laces and inserts and other boot care items.

Don't get me wrong I love the boots and the quality and cost show but the price just seems a bit over the top to me - I was normally a $19.99 to $39.99 per pair boot guy over the last 20 years.

Perhaps one of you can tell me if I am just crazy or if they are worth the expense.

And I do have a set of Blue (yes a light blue / slate suede) dauntless from the guide of sporting men's catalogs - the look kind of soft and comfortable but are tough and durable as well.

Converse first designed these for Desert Storm as the "Rapid Response", and then quit making them. Best pair of boots I've ever owned. Lightweight, washable removable insole, and wear like elephant hide.
Reebok started making them, and I almost bought a pair until I read the reviews. The common complaint was Reebok didn't do the insulated liner like Converse did, and they rubbed your ankle raw.
Ken, I'd like to know what you think when you have a couple of miles on em.

But if you want other gun guys to know YOU are the real deal, that is what you must wear should you ever go to one.

$50 off regular price. I like that. ($62)

I will try and remember to give a review, after I have gone a few days/week with them Trap.
