man I can't get enough of this album. actually it's 5 CD's. he goes from acoustic guitar acapella pieces to playing along in a bar band to recording outtakes to seemingly finished studio music. sometimes he sounds younger, sometimes he sounds older, or awfully old. all sounds good. got a whole list of session artists playing along with him. some of the guitars are him, others you can tell it's someone else but sounds better than he could have done. one of them has banjo on it (Sugar Babe) and I hate to say it but that was some mighty fine banjo pickin'. (another two songs were guitar that you can tell were inspired by the banjo)

I never was into country music but this new stuff they call country music??? or "new country"'? it's not country music! it's something else taking the place of country music. country music is gone.
they might say "oh it's what people want to hear nowadays" bullcrap, they switched programming on the radio stations irregardless of what people want to hear. the might say "it's the market, there are more young people" no, there are plenty of older people that still want to hear it. they flushed country music, that's all.
but why?
I heard the exact same thing happened a few decades ago with TV programming. the big thing in the late 60's was country shows like Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, Poderosa, etc. and the Hollywood executives said to cut it all in favor of urban stuff. thing is, their demographics people were telling them people wanted these shows, the other stuff would not be as popular, and there's no reason to switch. but they did anyway, over no small amount of protest.
