Actually... If the IC side of the prius hybrid were a 3 cylinder diesel operating at its most efficient RPM, it could almost triple its efficiency. Not to mention the very limited range ... something like 150 miles before a recharge. The recharge from a 'station' for quick charge is about an hour...otherwise from 120 household current is overnight. :shock:

They are loud and noisy
They are old technology

I have a 66 mile (round trip commute) on very twisty mountain roads. If not for the fact that I leave at apprx. 4:30 am, (Zero dark thirty.) and given the fact of all the deer I encounter in the fog at that time of the am, I'd ride one in to work. I've hit two deer in the last two/three years. Both hits would have been fatal on a motorcycle. (Not a Liberal Happy by the way.)
Watched the linked video yesterday, saw my first TV ad for one this am. Pretty sure they are grossly overpriced. Eventually the shortfalls in technology will be overcome. All the negatives will be addressed.
(But) Also, as an aside -
I have a BMW F650 Dual Sport, languishing in my 30X40 metal outbuilding. I've had too many close calls over the years. Been street riding since I was 15. (Yamaha two stroke RD.) I'm done road riding. Too many Idiots on the road not paying attention.0 -
Maybe if they came with a side car. I mean if it top out at 95MPH it's just a big scooter. So might as well make it more practical and with a side car they could add a few more batteries for longer range. 0 -

I'd be more in to a three wheeler with an enclosed cab to circumvent the elements. (Rain, fog, low temps, deer, etc.) I do not need to go 95 mph. If it would cruise comfortably at 70 mph, I'd be good.
We (here) have posted about, and talked about just such a ride in this past year. Forget the name of that particular ride. ("Production looming.") I'd buy, and use that for commuting to work. I am sure some other Members here know the ride I am speaking of and will hopefully link.0 -

Yeah electric Harleys are like E-formula one racing cars,no soul in the engine. New car mechanical engines are coming back to be greener then electrics too! That new army hybrid diesel engine with electric boost is the best all-around platform. Ram has an assist hybrid already. But no new Cummins diesel like the army has!

I wouldn?t claim to be a Harley snob, but if I ever got another bike it?d be a gas guzzling, thump thump HD... I just like the feel, the sound, and the aura.
