Are they adjustable action tuning pillars. Measures 13/16" long 1/2" diameter at the small-diameter flange measures 3/4"

Comparing against pics of the electric bedding system Winchester had as an option on the Winchester model 52 with a 28" special heavy bbl and squared off muzzle might yield results...

I have a Remington 40X with those located in the forend. Near the end of it, at about the 4 and 7 o'clock position. 0 -
This^^^ they're called "barrel tuning screws" for pressure points to dampen barrel harmonics. A couple of aftermarket companies made them as well.
