Best concert you thought would suck
I was going out with this girl who loved the Bangles. I got 2 tickets and took her, it was in 1986 or 7 and I figured it would suck but at least I might score 
I like 60's and 70's Rock music.
I think I had more fun than she did............
and yep I scored
The other was a Dwight Yokum concert. Again I was going out with another girl who liked him. I got tickets...............it wasn't too bad.

Went to see Uriah Heep in 1973. The opening act had big Marshall amps with longhorns attached set up when we got there. We thought it was some redneck Country band and we went out and stood in the halls to check out the girls. Halfway into the first song everyone started back into the arena to see who they were.

I took my oldest son when he was a youngster to see KISS back in the 70s and I figured it would suck but as it turned out I liked it. 0 -

The concerts I listed - my attendance and attention were not musically focused...
But surprisingly not only were none awful - some ranged from tolerable to exceptional...
As far as bands that did not live up to the hype - in fact outright sucked - you have GNR and Aerosmith and the Beastie Boys and Boston and dokken and Billy Idol to name a few...

I have not been to many concerts. Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Don Williams and a few others. I would not pay good money to go see a concert I thought would suck. Don 0 -

Have NEVER attended a concert anywhere at any time.
Just foolish to waste money on a ticket for something you can see/hear on the radio/TV/youtube for free.

Didn't think they would suck, but just wanted to say they still rock. Took the Mrs. to Vegas to see Aerosmith. Those guys still have it. Awesome show at the MGM Park. 0 -

Went to see Loggins and Messina, and got Firefall for the warm-up band. They didn't last long, but still one of my favorites. Probably the biggest surprise was Grateful Dead. Had bus trouble, showed up an hour late, and played for three hours nonstop. 0 -
My brother bought a block of tickets for Pink Floyd, not really my cup of tea. The opening act was The Eagles, they were great, Pink Floyd gave me a headache.:)
Went to a free street concert in Seattle, Sea Fair. Never heard of the group that played. The set up was neat, three flatbed truck trailers set up at a downtown intersection, two with speakers and the center was the stage. Steppenwolf rocked.
Got invited to a buddies birthday bash, he was a record promoter. In his back forty, a band played I'd never heard of before, Black Oak Arkansas.
To put a reverse spin on the topic, I went to a James Taylor concert I thought was going to be great. The Hells Angels got into an argument with somebody, when they started shooting I decided it was time to leave.
A girlfriend invited me to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. I was kind of a music snob at the time and only went hoping to get into her pants. Karen Carpenter was really good, a for-real world-class artist.0 -
I bought tickets for my wife and I to see Ringo Star and his Allstar Band that were playing at a big local resort. Only bought them because all of my siblings were going and I did not want to be a "party pooper".
Turned out to be one of the best concerts I have ever been to! Billy Preston, Mark Farner, Jeff Lynne, and several other's I have forgotten. It was like going to several concerts all in one!0 -

I will say I have seen quite a few bar bands I thought would suck and they turned out pretty good.0 -
Ditto on Black Oak Arkansas, they opened for Iron Butterfly. Both were great and it got "Hot and nasty" later. Date was hot. 0 -

Beach Boys circa '87. They were 'old' to me at the time. It was a completely laid back, relaxing atmosphere and everyone seemed to like it from infant to those using walkers.
Sam Kinison - I saw him in a fairly small club somewhere around CO Springs. I thought he was mostly just a shock comic and didn't really like it much. But, he stood up and did a fairly short routine and he finished it by singing "Wild Thing" which he had recently released. Towards the end of the song, h flopped down onto his back, face directly under a female in a skirt. She walked off as he exited the stage on his back, pushing himself with his feet, while he played guitar (more or less looking upskirt the whole time). That exit was still the best I have EVER seen.0
